Sure, but that isn’t 4/3, and it only gets you to the bottom of your quoted days off (15). You also have that nice little chunk of 6 days in there. My experience is that, unless vacation is used, if I have 6 days off in a month, I pay for it with shorter blocks elsewhere. Both situations (ACMI long blocks vs typical airline) can be made to look sweeter with vacation.
My math: True 4 on, 3 off, so 3/7 of days in the month off. Looking for the average month, kind of like 2.5 kids in the average household or whatever it is. I’m assuming the average month has 30 and one third days (Jan, Feb, and Mar being flattened to 30 days each, so really just 4 months with 31 days, based on the 2 airlines I have experienced), (30 + 1/3) x (3/7) = 13 days off.
Math aside, the more general question is which is better, chunks of days off 2-6 at a time, or 14 in a row. There are ups and downs to both. I’ve had 19 day off months as a senior regional FO, I’ve had 12 off while commuting, and now I’m ready to try long-block with home basing.
I think that decent points have been made by proponents of both, which is great, considering that I’m pretty sure this started out as a total troll thread.
