After being furloughed from Southern and the way I was treated, I will HAPPILY work at a grocery store before going back there.
You do have a choice.

The 5-10 consistently negative posters do not represent all of the 2,000ish Atlas/Southern pilots, FYI. I live in base and made 3 times more money in my first year here than I ever did at a regional. I have a great QOL living near a hub, and generally fly with happy people. Also, Southern is a much different animal than 4 years ago, apples and oranges.

Definitely things need to be worked out here accordingly however that may happen, whenever that may happen. Lots of contract rumors, but no one truly knows so we’ll remain strong together looking forward. At this point it would be a much welcomed surprise (speaking for me) and I wouldn’t believe it until my income showed an increase and the accrual sick/vaca/per diem, etc. started to jump as needed. This flying is not for everyone, but for many of us it works amazingly well and I enjoy it. I know we’re not compensated as needed in many areas, but we have good folks from all walks of life. I truly believe this place could undeniably be the best place around if given an industry competitive contract. Pay, retirement, yada yada yada you’ve all heard it before, but I actually enjoy coming to this type of variable work locations/changes/challenges which very few other entities provide. I like longer breaks and long haul flying, but 16/17 days on the road is not palatable for a lot folks unless you’ve tried it. Give it a shot, remember it’s your (one) life not mine and I honestly choose to be here because it specifically meets my needs. My very senior buds at the top 2 cargo outfits constantly remind me just say the word for which I am grateful and there is no guarantee cuz I could goof it up anyway, ha! Those 2 cargo outfits fleece us on a regular basis so that tells me we are a commodity. Now - I speak from a decent point of seniority, I am not near two decades of earning potential remaining, the ability to live where I choose and I have planned accordingly for retirement so far; therefore, all things are not created equal from where I sit. I realize the music can stop, get gobbled up, or we could be dissected and cut up in various ways perhaps, but no one at our level knows what the future holds. For now the paychecks don’t bounce, it works very well for me and I still enjoy the ride.
Let the shaming begin, I really don’t care as I support those at the bargaining table and rely on them to get it done as best they can. Everyone has an opinion and I don’t agree with some things, but I am not at the table. If it doesn’t work, eventually we’ll give some others a try and go from there. Very sobering to land at various airports and see 50% or more of pax carriers not moving at all, cargo maxed out using 20-30% of the remaining airport which is more than normally allocated in some areas. While not a perfect negotiating environment right now, stay the course we’re counting on you. Timing is everything.

You are still butt hurt over being furloughed off the 747-400 what 8 years ago? About the only thing that is the same is the name. Oh, and a few of us who will not forgive you for bad mouthing what were your fellow pilots. Enjoy you next upcoming furlough.

Anyone that interviews- and there will be hundreds.
Key points to study
-company’s background / where we fly
-approach plates
-Nat tracks
-international ops ( metar, taf, prog charts )
-accelerate go / stop
-screen height
- v1 cuts
- how will you deal with 17 day patterns
-drunk captain story ( maybe )
- why atlas now
- what airplane and why. 737,74,76,77
- how will you handle training - ( especially if you’ve been on one airplane for 10+ years )
I’m sure there is more- anyone else care to chime in ?
