Atlas / Southern

Take a look through any thread with Southern in the title and count the derogatory remarks, not just towards management, but towards the pilots. It’s just the online equivalent of the side eye in every hotel lobby and the TC. It’s not just perceived.

It’s all the same and we are all the same and that’s how I read it. When guys are bashing southern they are also bashing atlas not sure why you would take that personally. It’s the same terrible outdated contract and we are in the same stand still in negotiations.

Bird and Whip are the only two people I ever see on here trying to pick fights between the two pilot groups. They also like to encourage people to join Southern. I'm very skeptical of their motives. If they are Southern pilots they represent a very small minority.

I agree except the “you must have DUI or some other undesirable trait to get hired at Southern” get tiresome.

In truth, way, way senior people at SAI will say in the most prophetic sense; "If you are at Southern, there is a reason". To quote one of our past Chief Pilots/DO, "I resemble that".
If you are at Southern it's because you couldn't get hired anywhere else - for whatever reason that is. Period, end of story.
Having the attitude that getting hired by Southern, is like you pulled off some fantastic coup, is just fooling yourself. I meet these people in the lounge and go back to my room and laugh my *ss off.
Southern has been and always will be the island of misfit toys. Stay too long, and you will be marooned on that island.
Own it, deal with it, make the best of it. Be as professional as you can be. Realize that being at Southern is possibly your last opportunity for redemption. You can either run with it, or keep perpetuating your shortcomings, and we all have shortcomings.

Where else would you be able to log 15 hours of jet time in one flight, which at least a third of the time you were sleeping or watching movies/playing games on your iPad. The remainder is spent slapping a couple of buttons, scribbling on a couple pieces of paper, and generally otherwise just kicking back. Hopefully you get those landings in and don't have to go to the sim.
Hey, if I wanted an easy way to log A LOT of jet time I would do that too!
