Looking at your quals, finding a regional in 5 years might be your best course of action. While your rotorcraft time is impressive, the lack of significant AMEL time makes transitioning straight to heavies pretty much a non-starter. Assuming we can get pax volume back in the next 5 years (which is a totally reasonable proposition), the hiring at the regionals will pick back up. Once you’ve passed a 121 training curriculum and have a jet type, the application for a larger operator becomes a lot easier.

It was probably your 5 year timeline that caused everyone to fall out of their chair laughing. No one from the CEO down can predict what will be happening next year. Scheduling struggles with what might be happening tomorrow. Find a way to transition from single engine GA to a regional jet and you will be more competitive.

seriously don’t come. This is a professional pilot group that expects to reclaim its status as the highest paid and best overall acmi not a a bunch of hobbyists or guys doing a side hustle. If you don’t care about any of that bc you have a pension Good for you but the rest of us would rather see you take that attitude elsewhere.

In about 5 years I’ll be able to retire from my present job as a helicopter pilot and start collecting a pension at age 50. I presently have over 6,000 hours turbine time helicopter and 700 hours SE RG fixed wing with CFI and CFII in both. I plane to get my ME rating this year and ATP before I retire as well as a bachelor’s in Aviation before retirement in 5 years. What are the chances of getting hired at Atlas with my experience? I realize they don’t pay the best but I can manage since I’ll be collecting a separate pension.
5 years is a long ways away. The industry will look different then. In the mean time, you will need to get cut your teeth at the regionals first. Get through a 121 training program and get some experience on the line first, then you will be able to take the next step of your career.

definitely not they earned that pension and good for them. just this person who seems completely indifferent to what’s going on at this place for the last 5 years. My bad if you took it that way.
