No one goes to UPS or FedEx thinking about their next job. I'm sure Atlas knows that also. If they want that type of commitment they know what is required of them.
Last I checked, Atlas had around 8,000 applications on file. Want to take a guess at how many are on file at purple and brown?

There was a time when pretty much anyone could decide that they wanted to come to Atlas. That ended around March of 2020.

Best of luck to you getting that “X” in the box so that you can move onto someplace worth hanging your hat.

I have a friend who has had an app on file at brown for at least five years. He faithfully updates his app. Line check airman, masters, volunteer work, clean record, and low job count with long time at each employer. Nothing but crickets. Maybe if he had an internal?

I didn't ask, since he is doing all the other things I assume he has made every attempt but I cannot confirm. I know he jump seated on them for a while several years ago and knows a few guys but not well enough to be comfortable asking for a recommendation never having actually flown with them. He's happy where he is but always wanted Brown.

Additionally, Cliff said "workers will get their fair share of their organization's profits". Who decides what's fair? I'm sure a deal that favors him would appear fair to him, while a deal that favors management will appear fair to them. I'm just a realist. The military did that to me.

And what Cliff left out about the 1950s was that a family of six typically lived in a small three bedroom house with one TV and one car. Their idea of a vacation was to drive into the next state. I think we could all live like that on our current salary, but I'd like more.
I think your being a little mis-led by our examples here. To an extent that's our fault and my fault.

Many of us are off of probation and on property, so we can open our mouths without much risk. As an applicant without much heavy time it may be tempting to think that engaging in these discussions about the lifestyle, merits or job movements to other carriers builds a level of rapport with us.

It does not. In fact you may be burning bridges. Don't feel bad. I've done this many times in my life myself, and you can right yourself and move forward without much trouble.

If you want to come here, collect the information you need and keep your thoughts to yourself. After a year on property feel free to go full Donkey-Nuts.

I don’t think that is the magic bullet you imagine it to be. The problem is the merger clause in the CBA that management has repeatedly weaponized against the pilots - forcing arbitration. If you can’t vote & you can’t strike it doesn’t matter much what is on the union letterhead. Your leverage is left to the shifting tides of the market - and unfortunately covid came along last year just as their recruiting/retirement/attrition problem was finally coming to a full boil. Regardless, this merger/forced arbitration issue has been around since long before the teamsters.

Yes and no. Its not as simple as this. As a 4 year Atlas pilot I have been told every year by management that they want to give us the contract we deserve as soon as possible. You'll see it first when you go to the interview. I was told in my 2016, interview by management, that the contract is just around the corner. Every year since then in recurrent I have been told the same thing by management. They hold a company call every few weeks and the CEO tells us he wants to get the contract and the pay we deserve as fast as he can. Then the next negotiating session, management shows up hours late or not at all on day one. Or they show up with nothing prepared for the session. While all of our peers have been getting contracts. So, it's more than just coming here knowing what you'll get paid so stop complaining. We will be happy to welcome you here if you get the job, but please come walk in our shoes for a while before you make an opinion on the awesome pilot group that's here. And trust my 13 years of experience on the commercial side, if it was that easy to leave we would.

Second year pay is better than being a school teacher. QOL might be as good though. Cargo seems stable. Everyone has their own perspective and bills catered to their lifestyles.

So far, this is the only correct response.

Prior to this response, we blamed substandard working conditions on:

--The pilots themselves (blame the victim)
--The CBA
--The union
--American culture (which isn't wrong, but there's a better answer, and it's revealed in the quote above).

The whole problem with Atlas, is Atlas management.

Not an applicant, just someone looking at the grass on the other side of the fence. I was not trying to build a rapport, I was trying to get neutral anonymous honest opinions. I thank all of you for those. Notice I've been a member 10 years longer than yourself with considerably less posts. I remember a time when the pilots here were not so quick to offend; but times have changed.
