That's what I thought also. Probationary pilot so union was of no help, and in fact seemed to be more loyal to company, even the new union rep sat on his hands and did return a single phone call to the pilot involved. Pilot involved has a clean training record, no training issues, but had been suffering from Covid long term. Management was working with this pilot with good communication trying to work through Covid 19. This pilot was then the victim of a criminal act that was not their fault and the company essentially cut the pilot loose. Yes the pilot is on probation, I understand that Birdsmash. What kind of human being or company will release a pilot based on a criminal act that was not his or her fault, especially during a pandemic. A lot of pilots over the years have fallen and we are going to take a stand for this pilot and others down the road, especially those who have been affected by covid19. Feel free to message me if you have more questions.

I heard about this a couple weeks ago. From the rumor I heard, the wife or girlfriend had mental breakdown from covid 19, pulled a gun on him, went on an unhinged email rant with company. Poor guy was focused on protecting his kids, lost his job. Not what you want to have happen to you on probation for sure. I guess he had been in an abusive domestic situation for several months since Covid went full throttle. This isn't the first story I have heard of an otherwise outstanding professional cracking during covid. Dentist my cousin used back in Denver, had a complete breakdown and closed his practice of 22 years in a matter of days. Not a rally behind guy here, but with this pandemic this is a situation I can certainly lend my support behind. Southern step up and help this guy.

Good point, they could have just said they’ll look it the numbers. I can see two reasons. The company can say “If the union would just be reasonable we could have this done.” Which would seem to be a divide and conquer program against the union. Or they might be trying to set some limits for the arbitrator.

Came on here to get some info on Atlas/southern as it looks like my job is sketchy going into fall furlough season but reading back on the last couple posts not sure this is good for my career, what kind of corporate culture would toss a pilot going through a situation like that. Guess it doesn't surprise me these days.

You never hear the full story especially on a forum like this.
