It really benefits you to know all the details you may have not known to ask or search. This way you won't be like so many of the angry and depressed guys I used to fly with.
Or don't do that, it's a free country.

I don't think its out of line to ask casual questions on an internet message board. One way the people answering get annoyed, true. The other way people are less inclined to reach out and ask their questions..
I'd rather have people ask questions. That's just me, though.

Would like to reiterate the upgrade requirements. Seniority Based, mins applicable but the emphasis should be on executing worldwide operations. None find themselves in more austere locations/situations on a normal basis for us than us. This is not a cookie Cutter plug and play pilot situation. Assistance is minimal and many times you are just figuring it out along the way. They key is to bid everything you've never seen before while an FO and learn as much as possible. While you still will have last min changes flying "normal" lines, there is a highly probability you will head towards something you've never seen. We find ourselves crossing the Atlantic, then Pacific and even down under plus S. America and there were Africa times. Contracts come and go. Overall, my kind of gig but it's not for everyone.

The age old etiquette of a forum is to see if your question has been previously asked. It’s not asking a whole lot to use the search function. If one values the opinion of employees at a company enough to ask them a question, then they should value said employees time enough to see if the question has already been answered. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or your favorite adult beverage and dive a few pages back. It’s worth it if this is a job you want, right?

mainly posting this to get the train back on the rails.. but considering this article, what is Atlas/Southern’s future with Amazon from the perspective of those on the line

I don't think any of the other ACMIs have spare operating certificates laying around like AAWW does. Could management cash out by selling the Polar or Southern certificate to AMZN?

Huh? ATSG has three, and if they didn't invent the whipsaw, they at least perfected it.

AMZN is getting the best deal. Having it’s own cheaper trans system without any herding cats/law suit responsibility, plenty of oversight and power to steer their train.
