Congratulations, Redeye, on your 2000th post! You need 625 more and we'll be even.

Indulge me in a trip down memory lane. When I ran the IRS-sponsored VITA site, I helped a lot of people finish their tax return. I remember one couple who, when asked, said they were from Kazakstan. Without thinking, I asked "so, do you know Borat?" They just stared at me like I was an idiot. I could never understand why they didn't know such a famous native son!

I'll second that.

There is also a English type pub that serves pizza and other food stuffs. Its about 3-4 four blocks north of SoHo. Its one block over from the Tien Shan Grand Hotel entrance.
Or you can go to the mall and eat at the food court.

The brewery by the hotel has good food but is slightly on the expensive side. Good beer.

It's been my experience that the Western-style places are good but usually pricey. There are some local restaurants near the hotel that have good food and are exceptionally cheap. (I got a rack of lamb, potatoes and a small bottle of vodka/hydraulic fluid with mixer for around $20). I don't know the names of any places in particular but be adventurous and just try out the local-type places.

Hi Vagabond, I'll never be equal to you!

Next time ask if they know Borat's "Sister".

Absolutely, positively, make no mention of the word "Borat" or anything that rhymes with it, when in KZ. Trust me. Just don't.
