full of luv - just checked out a bid status. All June-Aug weeks assigned in the first round.
Some April-May weeks still available in the third round.
Fourth round only had Nov-Feb weeks away from the holidays. Like first two weeks of Nov-Dec, late Jan, etc

And it's not five weeks anymore. 31 days max now.
Guys went nuts over the 'lost' four days, that almost no one used. They cashed them out. Dollar value of the 31 days? The same as the 35 days. They increased the per day vacation hours, while reducing the number of days, so the net difference was zero.

Yes Selling/Convert to CPA CPA banks go away once ALL bases are PBS.
Floating vacation may still happen, but cashing it out to CPA NO.
Since the Company Not APA is delaying PBS especially at MIA, CPA banks may live thru 2017.
I always liked CPA banks.

I think that you will still be able to cash out float days, it will just be under the new vacation tool on AA pilots.

Close the last few years it's been Mar 1-Feb 28(29)
Previously LAA vacation was May 1-April 30.
the first year (2004) it was moved Apr 1-Mar 30
PLEASE all LUS read the vacation letter thoroughly.
Vacation is done OUT of Seniority at AA.
Pilot seniority #1 bids 4 separate weeks of vacation in December.
Pilot seniority #2 same bid status Bids 4 weeks in a row in December.
Pilot#2 awarded ALL 4 weeks.
Pilot#1 not awarded Christmas week because Pilots that bid ALL 4 weeks get first choice out of seniority.
READ the Vacation Letter.

777 CA?? Maybe 35 yrs.
N/B FO? 20 years?
You need to be in the top 20% to hold two weeks in the summer. Chritsmas vacation might be the same.
2016 vacation awards is in 'personal & profile', 'my vacation'.

Keep in mind once we get past the 15 year post 9/11 bubble, those longevity times will drop.
Two weeks continuous in the summer or holidays always goes super senior, but there were 2012-2013 hires in DCA that got a week off in June or August. And the weeks before or after holidays often go somewhat junior. With sliding three days and adding VEX dates you can effectively bid a week before or after a holiday and move things around to where you get that day off anyways.

That's the current snapshot. Maybe 18-19 years??
Going forward will be a different story. Figure out the current seniority required, in different bid statuses, to hold two weeks over Christmas. Figure out future retirements to compute when the latest hiring wave will reach the percentage required to hold a long Christmas vacation.
