Any update to this or PHX is still going away/supershrinking as a hub?

From what I've heard of guys there, the 'reduction' has pretty much been taken care of by regular movement, other than apparently some captain downgrades. So it seems like its stabilizing?
Of course there are plenty of people out there salivating over/spreading rumors, about it closing.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info. I live in Phx, mil, and just wondering how long it takes to get based there, or if that's even possible as a new hire in a year or so?

AA wants around 350ish FO's and after the July vacancy bid they have 397. However they just let about 6-7 pilots into Phx so the bottom seniority number jumped from 13,7xx to 14,209! I'm a Jan 16 hire living in Tucson and my number is 14,242 so I just missed it. I think it'll continue to get more junior over time with a new hire waiting maybe 12 months to get in. I wouldn't be surprised if by spring it only takes 3-4 months.
IMO I don't think AA is leaving Phx anytime soon. Good luck and hope you get hired.

I think the numbers they want are the number of pilots bidding, not just total numbers. We had 372 FOs bidding in May. There are several that are withheld from other positions. They let some out on the July bid. It looks like on the FO side, PHX is at the staffing level they want, so I'd expect to see more people get PHX over the next few bids as people leave.

PHX was never "going away." They'd need to rebuild LAX in its entirety before that was even a threat (Which may happen, but over a decade away). PHX is the West Coast domestic hub, LAX doesn't have the real estate to absorb it.
