They said they will readdress the 73 in PHX come third quarter 2018. Does anyone think the AB will completely leave and be replaced by the 73 or both planes stay in PHX?

Guess Southwest is your only choice if you want to live in PHX.

Heck no! I'll move, I was just hoping to get PHX for 3-4 years. Oh well, LAX and DFW aren't bad commutes.

dudes and dudettes...we still will have 1,000 pilots based in PHX once all dust settles so it won't be as bad you think. Many opportunities ahead with all movement, retirements and future growth.

BWI had 1000 pilots based there too. Used to run 75's between PHL and BWI. Now it's a couple 50 seaters.

and SJC, and BNA, and RDU, and STL, and that's only on the AA side.
If PHX stays, it will be the exception and not the rule. Hard to make any case of keeping it as a pilot base once its O and D flights shrink down. Had lots of layovers there through the years...nice place. But you have to get realistic about its prospects in the here and now. Let's talk in a couple of years because it can happen that fast around here.
Nothing wrong with hoping for the best, but wait and see.

For point of reference at UAL:

DEN base (737/A320) is 625 active line pilots

DCA/BWI/IAD base (A320/737/767/777) is 1100 pilots.
