bidding is by seniority and by and large, reserve usually goes junior, and lines go senior, but some times senior people bid down for various reasons (specific days or schedule off, etc)

Do you really think the largest airline in the world is simply going to walk away from the SIXTH largest city in the United States? Will there be some downsizing and synergies at play? Certainly. But to see AA to completely exit Phoenix is highly unlikely.
The rumor I am hearing is that management envisions a pilot base of around 800 when it is all said and done.
