Trust me, we do. We all know this gravy train won't last so many (myself included) are taking advantage of it while its here. Allegedly, we have an instructor pilot who doesn't credit less than 200 hours every month (not hard to do when a turn pays 16 hours credit). We have 50 seat jet FOs who have broken 100k for 2016. Incredible considering what regional airlines used to pay, especially a turboprop operator such as Piedmont.

Questions from a future AA candidate:
A fellow co-worker at my regional was telling me a lot of bad things about AA. He mentioned something about how pretty much any work you do above 80 hrs is paid to you in the form of Sick time or Vacation time instead of money (premium pay if you are working on your days off). I thought he was crazy so I decided to double check here with you guys.... You do get paid MONEY if you work on your days off and credit over 80 hrs Right??
I live in MIA, so any input from MIA based pilots is greatly appreciated!
How many hours can I average a month as a RSV and as a Line Holder?
What is the range of days off per month I could expect?
How easy would it be as a new hire to get 737 MIA vs A320 MIA.
What wide bodies fly out of MIA? 777? 330? 787? and how long after hired could I expect to bid for those?
Thank you.

If you call in sick during a month AND fly a premium trip during that month, the premium is reduced by the amount of sick used. That's probably what he heard about.

Rsv pays 73 or 76 hrs/month. If you fly more than 73/76 hrs you get paid what you actually fly. Flying on rsv is probably 50-60 hrs. Some months less, some months more.
MIA n/b lines avg 81-85 hrs (four bid statuses). 14-16 days off.
Recent post said the AB went senior to the 737 so it might be available.
777 FO is about is 4,000 senior to the latest new hires. That's about five years based on current manning. That should drop somewhat as the 767's get replaced by 787/350's.

One good deal on reserve. Pick up a trip on day off and it goes on top of guarantee. Overtime even better. So if I put in for over guarantee and overtime on my last day off and I get a multiple day trip, then it all goes on top of my 73/76 guarantee. You get a 20 hr. Trip that pays 30 now that it is overtime. Credit 103 pr 106 and work one extra day. If they are short it is a great deal.
I was converted to short call today. First time this month. I still hate it when they do this.

More angst to be had
Our LAX and DFW bases are getting more bad news these days. PHX pilots are for the first time in years able to bid out. Most are going to LAX then DFW. I am happy for my PHX brothers and sisters but sad for the LAX and DFW pilots. Many line holders are no longer going to be able to hold line as the PHX pilots come in. That sucks. I just keep getting pushed further back on reserve. I was able to hold a line maybe 4 months a year but now it will be solid reserve. I am fine with that and have no angst against anyone from PHX. It is just another negative that comes up when you merge. I had no idea that PHX was going to shrink so much. They are supposed to add flying in LAaX and DFW but everyone coming out of PHX is very senior. I think I saw 4 pilots going into DFW A320 international and they were all top ten in the bid status including the number one pilot will now be a former PHX guy. This is no ill will toward my co workers from PHX. It just is hard to take when you keep going backwards. It is not their fault. A couple years from now it should all be behind us. I can see some fights breaking out.

You see fights breaking out.........unreal how some LAA folks see things. Through brainwashed eyes.
I see PHX guys going everywhere. A lot of FO's went to LGA to hold CA. Blame Scott Kirby for the PHX staff reductions....it was his move a few months back. Then poof he get 13 million to leave. They kept the plan in place he did. Now I am hearing not as big a reduction as initially stated by company. They are going to vacancy bid out as much as they can and then leave it at that level. Also, remember when Kirby was so quick to change the fleet plans....Park 190's, Park 330-300, Park S80's faster.....well yeah they are looking at that decision now too. Not so much the plan today.

There's a lot of 737 flying out of PHX. I commute out of SMF. Used to be a mix of 319/320/321. Last flight I checked 4/6 flights were on the 737. Not sure how well this is going to work with PHX not being a 737 base. Someone calls in sick in PHX and they have to fly in a reserve from LAX or DFW. I haven't checked, but it's quite possible if someone calls in sick at an outstation, they'd have to do a 2 leg DH to get there if it's a city served by PHX but not LAX, PHX, or ORD.
There was talk of a 737 base in PHX but last I heard that's not going to happen.
