My 25 year captain buddy at AA says the schedules are brutal and getting worse. Hes on a junior fleet and base, works like a dog and still cannot get the holidays off. He complained to a chief and the chief just shrugged his shoulders my buddy said.

I can maintain a better QOL if I remained here, I believe. Would have been nice to get an earlier look from AA, but it just was not in the cards.
Hired last May. For me Looking at the numbers it will take about 2 years from my hire to hold DFW

One way to fight bad schedules is a fatigue call.

I am not saying that as a disgruntled Airways guy trying to put a dig in at the American guys, just about every American pilot I've come in cantact with has been great, I'm saying that as a relatively junior guy that is now experiencing the full brunt of this contract we voted in. I've experienced the differences first hand, and say what you want about the sh!tty reputation that Airways had, it was, however, vastly superior compared to the American way of life, and that is embarrassing. I can't believe the 9000+ American guys put up with this crap. On long call reserve you will be utilized beyond what your schedule ever shows. Short call reserve? That's an in base deal, period. That can be decent, if sitting around a crash pad is what you consider decent. Long call reserve, something any new hire commuter dreams of, is worse than in-base short call. Your off days are not your off days, they are moved regularly and back to back trips are not uncommon. Long Call guys have their off days moved before short call guys are even called. AYFKM? Pack for 4 and gone for 6! Have a line and want to move a trip? Get used to Red/Redder, that's the mantra! Fly what you bid folks, and with PBS, unless you're in the top 30, expect the fun to continue!

The nickel and dime antics of Doug are well documented. Nearly every single regional airline has superior contract reserve language compared to what American has. Don't expect the union to share your pain, 'Don't worry son, you'll be senior one day' isn't really a joke here, it's SOP. Only the real joke is on the senior guys that actually think they're special. Sure, come here and get a seniority number but if Delta or United calls in the first year or two, pack your bags and hit the road!

I'm posting this not to get a load off my chest, I'm still thankful I have this job and I generally come to work and do my thing without making any waves, I'm posting this because you need to know what you're getting in to. Sure, Delta is on top, and that can all change, but that fact of the matter is we're on the bottom now and the leadership at APA isn't going to bat for the members and certainly not the contract, Doug is steamrolling them. The implementation of our contract only falls under the 'what saves the company money now' column. Our contract still has 3.5 years left and we've given up any bargaining power. The next contract will cost dearly to get some of the QoL issues back and that will still leave us a distant 5th! So ah, ok, good luck!
31 years with AA and I agree with the above! UA and AA is even.

Wasn't an issue, and they didn't question me at all.
Yeah, I wonder about some of these posters too. I've bid long call and never had days moved or taken away. Usually bid for trips that start late first day and it works pretty well. Schedulers may sometimes be clueless because they're new(all of us were new once), but always nice.

So the 'eyes closed, it doesn't happen to me, all is good' methodology may work for some but that it is happening AT ALL should be indicative of a problem. My Delta friends don't have ANY stories of days being taken away and mid-trip adjustments that extend trips 1-2 days. A line holder just a few days ago was in the FB group talking about a 4 day being extended into a 6 day. I've had good interaction with the schedulers as well, I've only had one or two mid trip adjustments but thankfully my captains didn't allow any bs, but the original intent of my post still stands. We are number 5. If you want to join the last place team and fight to become first, well, hell, come on down we need you. The ignorance at the top of this pilot group is beyond anything I've ever seen, we need all the help we can muster. In the meantime, enjoy the work rules we so weakly 'fought' for.

DL has reassignment language in their contract. Eg for reserves or line holders being flown into their days off.

Not hearing a story doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

RAs happen to my UAL and dal buds plenty...just sayin'. The difference is that I think they get an extra day off (on reserve) if it does, plus automatic premium pay.

Make no mistake about it...our contract blows compared to theirs. We got a lotta fixing to catch up.

AA gets reassignment pay if the reassignment extends beyond the original footprint of the trip. If you're used into a day off the time of is given back to you. The pay is 150% for the time outside of the original footprint.

APA contract comparison states that DL apparently has the same language (150%) but only if it touches a day off. Reassignment that exceeds the original footprint, but not a day off, might not qualify(hard to tell without the exact language).

Per APA's contract comparison, if DL assigns you additional duty periods extending into your days off for situations within the company's control you get 200% pay. They don't get an additional day off, they just replace the day off they lost. AA delays the return to duty time, which is different than a whole day adjustment.

APA's contract comparison makes no mention of reassignment pay for UA. I don't know if they can't reassign or if there's just no pay bump.
