eagle fly...i doubt if the arbitrators will make any..but if so..very very very minor changes...to a draft SLI. After all they have been looking at data since the beginning of the SLI over a year ago..
The comments made by the respective committees will have little if any bearing on their SLI draft.

I agree ANY changes are unlikely and if any do occur, they would be isolated and extremely minor. This process seems more like "proofreading" by the various parties including the company, to ensure no errors, omissions or misinterpretations occurred in addition to giving all time to digest and prepare.
I think it very possible, there will be a short additional delay from release and it will not occur on the last day or day after the final counter-comment deadline, but that's just my guess.

Then what is the point of the comment/counter-comment process ?

It all about "boiling frogs slowly" or "letting out the steam before it blows".
If it were the Nic, that felicitous news would have leaked by now.

They'll all swim a little slower then we want them to I'll bet, but one thing may be (and it's just my opinion, of course) is that it is this point where "leaks" might actually help as they will soften the blow to all whom are chewing their nails to whatever shock comes to whomever, kinda like releasing a little steam out of your freshly microwaved popcorn vs. opening it quickly and instantly and causing a burn.

You're most likely right. I said a week or two because it is termed a "draft" award and I just figured it would take a few days to review the last counter comments (which might be longer then the comments by some), make any changes, print up a final award and disseminate that to the parties who will then review and release. I don't think the arbs will burn the midnight oil doing that and I think the parties will all have to agree on timing and method of release.

Let the steam out and you can project how it will go. UAL/CAL.

Again, those two carriers were almost equals in the eyes of the arbitrators in pre-merger equities and career expectations (55/45), whereas this situation is substantially less balanced in both components. That SLI was also a product of ALPA merger policy consideration which is not in play here (although for obvious reasons, both LUS committees want it to be). The only true supporter of the Nic was the West. The AAPSIC did adopt it (in error IMO) in their revised proposal, but was quick to concurrently point out they believed in the foundation and application of three separate pre-merger seniority lists.
My only expectations (which are not certainties as no one can claim that) are that the Nic will not be evident in pure form and that none of the proposed lists will be adopted. Beyond that, I don't know. Personally, I've already planned being the most junior pre-merger pilot and will be expecting my furlough notice shortly as my steam has already escaped courtesy of your esteemed colleague who delivered it by airmail.
