Can any LAA guys give me some insight into sitting long call rsv: What's your utilization like? How often are you getting called out right at 12 hours prior/are you getting assignments further out? Are the assignments always awful (redeye or deep south flying)?

Just trying to figure out if sitting long call from SLC will be practical with being based in LAX, DFW, and so on. Thanks.
I think any utilization estimates you get now won't be worth much. When the starting pistol goes off this Fall and many of us make that mad dash for their next chair, we'll be under PBS which will be a totally different ballgame. It is is supposed to require fewer reserves which means (to me anyway) more efficiency, so the days of ghosting on reserve will be over.

Not sure if it is worth commuting or not.
Plan on MIA. One displacement and three entitlements already ahead of you in JFK. Loss of a couple European cities should generate more displacements.

If you want to fly the 757/767 you'll have to bid MIA. Some of the hardest, and coolest, flying we do. But even that's going away as the 319/321 takes over the 757 Caribbean flying.

I'm going to lay low in PHL (or take long term Mil Leave) until the dust settles. Then, DFW would cut my commute time in half and offer 5 times as many flights as PHL from where I live. Or, maybe I'll bid to where I can hold WB FO.

I'll have my bid in for DFW 320, followed by DFW 737. Next would be DCA 320 (where I'm at now) and CLT 320. Then maybe MIA 320.

I'm curious how DCA will shape up. It's pretty senior for LAA but not so much for LUS. I've been here for two years, and can hold a secondary. My bet is it won't stay that way.

Huey,
DCA FO is going quite junior for LAA. This last award, a mid '14 hire got it.

For CAs however, it is still quite senior. Junior CA around a '92 hire.

That's good to know. If I can still hold a line I'll stay put until I can get into DFW. Otherwise I'll go sit reserve in CLT.

Hope to stay in CLT for the rest of my career.

For the rest of you, it sucks. ;-)

Anything west of the Mississippi. Very tired of commuting from one base (PHX) to another (CLT) cause I have no choice. That's all I want is a choice, I can live with the fallout of the SLI, just tired of the fight. It's the only reason this place sucks. PS, scheduling issues, lack of quality trip construction, jumpseating, etc....all will be less of an issue once people can be close to home.

Personally, I am sick of the MIA style flying. I put the 74 into enough crap holes in SA to last me for quite sometime.

Just waiting for the musical chairs to slow down after the MOAB before I bid.

MIA 320/737 for me. DFW a close second.

Any news on potential satellite bases?
