So instead of trying to make things better, let's just accept common/past practice....

Beech,

Fidelity does run the 401(k). As far as a self directed option, I haven’t heard. Anyone else?

Good deal. My buddy bought some Bitcoin and he said made a killing, I don't know much about it though.

What about Roth 401k, is there an option to dump your money into one of those or just a normal 401k.

Yes.

Also you can do an in plan conversion to a Roth IRA. IRS limits you to $54k in 401k contributions. Assuming you're young you put in $18k leaving $36,000 remaining. If you earn $150k the company gives you 16% which is $24,000 leaving $12,000 remaining. You can contribute that as after tax dollars and turn around and do an in plan conversion to your Roth IRA. This way you don't have to do the paperwork of the backdoor Roth and it's a lot cleaner.

First year guys can save over $23,000 into retirement their first year if they want to (401k limits + IRA limits).

Voting no 1st year pay ~$36000 + 16% ~ $42000
Voting yes 1st year pay ~$67,000
Still a complete joke. 50k paycut for a flowthrough CA from Envoy. What other profession has you take that big of a loss for “moving up”?

Still a hell of a lot better than it was if you flowed 5+ years ago

Just think how much you'd lose switching to UPS.
