Texaspilot, your finances are just as you stated your business. Now if I may, I wish to try and explain this in such a way that its as simple as possible. As professional pilots all we have to sell is our time and skill. We are not labor that is easily replaced and by that I mean that it takes some time to train a pilot from hire to end of IOE. We are SKILLED labor and as such need to be compensated in a manner consistent with that skill. Now if we just give away that only thing in which we have to sell we would be a whole lot worse for wear!

I completely understand your position of having a family to feed and everyone here has that same issue but you can not feed that family if you give away your items that are for sale now can you? Now all I am saying to you is remember who you are and just what you had to do in order to be where you are today, it was not cheap, easy or free. The person that taught you how to fly did not do that for free either be it Military or civilian...

I don't see how a 2 hour callout, landing currency at night, and combined international/ domestic is such a big deal. Especially traded for much higher wages.

I swear, you offer a pilot a million dollars, we will want 2 million.

So true WD- I am shocked that a pilot would post some of the things that he has. We can only hope that he is an anomaly.

But it DOES reveal (whether you like it or not), that you're primarily concerned with your own personal interests vs. the best interests of the group in the long run.

I make it a rule to NEVER place myself in a potential line of fire with someone like that covering my back (even with a bullet-proof vest on backwards) and it's sad that many guys came from regionals like you with the "it's good for me" mentality.

Yup. He opens that door and gets angry if someone wants to turn on the light to look in. IIRC from the regional boards, he was a staunch advocate of a crap deal at his previous regional. You'll never change these types, they're wired one way and one way only and it's rooted in the "it's about me" mentality.

why shouldn't furloughed people be put behind active employees at the time of the merger?

You shouldn't expect any less. Like I said, they're just wired that way.

Texas-I have not made up my mind yet about the contract but that is beside the point. This is one of your typical statements that make people totally disregard everything that you say. But the good news is you have managed to unite pilots who have had differing opinions. Do you have no idea just how insulting this statement is?
