first off let me say to you and all the 3listers WELCOME!! I am happy that all of you are realizing your dreams in the aviation field. I am sorry however that you have been caught up in the middle of this mess with the east.

I can't agree with him because I'm not sure they properly represent anybody.

If USAPA thinks Doug Parker is bad, they obviously are not aware of what the AApilots have had to deal with. US seems to have an employee friendly culture with an system of open communication (crew news, etc.). Employees at AA have an intense hatred for their management, who took huge bonuses while they drove their airline into bankruptcy. At least Parker runs a profitable airline and keeps a friendly and open communication with all employees. The only reason USAPA hates him is because he refused to agree to a DOH list that was in direct defiance of an arbitrator's ruling. If the east pilots had accepted the ruling, then they would have had a better contract years ago. Don't blame management for what you have brought on yourselves.

Texaspilot,
I agree 100% with you, but USAPA truly believes they're not at fault. I hear guys blame mgt all the time, never have I heard someone say "we really need to settle our seniority issues with the West".

See we wont settle for anything less than what was issued in arbitration. The east has more than ample time to settle prior to even going to mediation much less arbitration. They remind me of my children who are now all grown and have kids of their own. They actually believe that they make a poor decision and then be rewarded for that poor decision and why they are not then throw a tantrum.

Acceptance and move on is our ONLY settlement out west or we battle on until the courts make a finial decision or management forces them to honor our deal.

Wiskey Driver,
I understand the West wanting the Nic, it was binding arbitration, but there is enough blame to go around. Neither side is willing to negotiate off of there opinion. Why can't we take 3 reps from the East and West and send them off to some remote place where they can't come back until a compromise is reached.

Well because we did that! See all that was done before we even went to arbitration. Then during the process even prior to the award being handed down both sides were told to go find room for change. We in the west came back with wiggle room while the east came back with DOH or bust.

Now after the award and they failed to get doh then it was the threat of either give us what we want or we will use our majority status and toss ALPA to start usapa and then take what we want. The east issued us a ultimatum and based on that insult we told them go fk yourselves. Now because management has made millions on this food fight they take the so called "neutral position". The end result is east pilots making less than Spirit pilots and out of seniority movement which is something they preach about within usapa only to be doing the exact same thing. No sir for the west its Award or nothing now. We simply will not reward their poor behavior with treats.

I hear ya, I just hope this merger goes through and we all move forward. It scars me to think of more of the same for years to come. The only positive is that more new hires are coming on board every month. Maybe soon there will be enough 3rd listers to help turn the tide.

~4-5 more years before we have the numbers to affect change. That's if there are any 3rd listers left.
