Me as well. After jumpseating on Airways (and other...unnamed companies) for years I knew it was the place I wanted to go. I'm planning on hiding out in CLT on the AB as long as I can.

It's exactly this:
"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to Florida the stand your ground state. Please keep your seat belt fastened and stay on the airplane as we return to Maracaibo, a much safer place."
sorry.
"L & G please remain seated until the Captain has turned off the seat belt sign. Flight attendants prepare for arrival."
we use to say "and cross check" but not anymore.

Good luck changing it.... That PA has been a staple at AA since the DC-3 days. Completely unnecessary and a pain but a huge nod to ancestral worship.
Hey, look at he bright side... It's the only PA we FOs have to make!
Guys, one of the very best things that can happen out of this merger is the USAirways side mitigating a bunch of the ancestral worship we have firmly in place here. Not to mention bettering our contract for once!

Wonder if any AA 319 drivers are on here. I jump seated on a AA319, Capt had his POH SOPs up on his iPad and it looked like the weather PA (one you make on initial descent) was under "PM", not Capt. Wonder if that's a sign of changing times and FOs will be able to make airborne PAs.

So going to OBAP in Vegas in March, and meeting with AA HR. Any suggestions or recommendations? I'm excited for this opportunity and hope that it will lead to an interview or even a class date soon enough! Thanks for the help.

What do you guys do? "Three thugs and a tug?" (old school callout)
Watched other carriers have FO start S80 engine while taxiing. I'm thinking "this is painful to watch". Their airline, their SOP, their paycheck, no skin off my back.
Watched US crew call out - rudder left, rudder right, aileron left, aileron right, nose down, nose up. I'm thinking "seriously? There's a control display and guys have two eyes." Their airline, their SOP, their paycheck, no skin off my back.

Havn't done it ages. Just read the contract mil sections but I'm a looong way from an expert. General concept - tell them your days and you're off without pay for work days missed.
General observations from reading - pay docked 1/18 for each reserve duty day missed. Can use PVD's(personal vacation days) or move DFP(duty free periods) over military days to regain the pay. If you wanted to you could get 18 days of AA pay and 13 days of mil pay. Or put the 13 days in the example over the AA days and end up with 5 AA days and 13 mil days.
Leaves over 62 days extend probationary period. Pretty sure pay increases (ERISA) as if you were on property. So it's a way to easy the $$ hit but you're still on probation until the end of probation(*).
Company can request verification of duty. Orders, DD214, or leave and earnings statement.
Military days are 'unpaid, uncredited'. Credit refers to where you go on the 'next to fly' list.
Years ago we had guys get hired and take mil leave to go to UPT. Show up 1.5-2 yrs later and never sat reserve.
* - you're on probation until the probation period is over. It will be a defined date. Having the check ride and the talk with the Chief Pilot at the 12 month mark is NOT the end of probation. Guy thought it was, stepped on it, and got fired because he screwed up before the DATE his probation ended.
BIL at NW newhire day one briefing - "guys, right now we're trying to save a DC-10 CA's job. He'll probably survive. You'd be fired. It's a year. Don't be stupid."
