Took the video interview. If the screen looks grainy when interviewing don't worry that's normal (called and asked about this) while I was taking my interview my screen timed out and I had to log back in to continue. don't worry, this happens too (according to help desk lady) and while I was interviewing I had to tap the screen from time to time to prevent the screen from timing out (this too is normal according to hr lady) got a few diff questions-
-what do you know about being an AA pilot, culture, company
-what are positives/negatives of being a pilot with AA
-they give you an approach brief, you write it down, and then brief it back to them
-when you are new to an organization, what do you do to learn your customers, coworkers and company?
- TMAAT you dealt with a delay or operational inconvenience to someone
- what do your family and friends say about you pursuing a job with AA

Back in the 70's I would agree with you. However, since the regional boom and the two catastrophic events, 911 and the age 65 rule, there are extremely qualified applicants who fly in the airline system and has proven to be worthy to sit in a main line aircraft. Just because one is a pilot in the military does not make him more qualified then a regional pilot. It's just a different type of flying. I bet you could take the majority of regional pilots and train them in a f16 or whatever aircraft just as easy as a military pilot is trained in a 121 style flying. In fact most military pilots come out of service with less hours than a regional pilot flying for the same amount of years. When it comes down to it the regional pilot is more experienced than the military when it comes to 121. If you were going in the military type flying then the military pilot is more qualified. I will agree that management, non pilots, are conditioned to think the same as you when it comes to military but the fact is the regional pilot is more qualified.

However I did train many pilots both military initial and civilian. Some civilian were top notch and some were plain bad. Yet all military were already screened and all of them were above average to begin with. I think that fact alone creates the weighted scale for military to get preferred hiring.

For what it's worth, all but 1 military guy in my class (Jan 21) flew Part 121 also...including me. The 1 that didn't was an AA intern. But, I agree, let's not make this a civilian vs military. Let's just keep hiring guys so I can get off reserve with a quickness
