American interviews and class dates

I think it was just because the bid opened to the LAA side. Probably folks that live in or near Philadelphia. It will likely go back to extremely Jr. It only really makes sense for non commuters that have 5 years or less LOS.

Start your own thread for complaints. Those who are doing due diligence will read it. But your comments about waiting for a hotel room don't belong in a conversation about interviews and class dates.
I'm not discounting your opinion ... I think that waiting an hour for a room on a layover is wrong. But I also think that you should address that with someone who can change it, and also stay on topic. There is validity for a conversation about why a prospective hire should consider other employers, but that's not the point of this particular thread. Start one about why people should run, not walk, away from an interview with American Airlines, if that's your opinion.
Finally, if you hate it so much, then quit. Or work with the union to make it better. Man, you spew a lot of bitterness here. Think of all that energy that could be devoted to making your life better. Meanwhike, others will try to read about the actual interview and hiring process.

The title of the thread is "American interviews and class dates." Not "Why I hate my employer."

But this is also fairly typically pre merger. Nov/Dec/Jan training awards go junior and Feb/Mar go senior. Why? Because Nov/Dec/Jan training interferes with the holidays. Why would a senior guy volunteer for that? And if they wait until Feb they get to keep their vacation from their previous, more junior, bid. And it doesn't interfere with summer plans.
So end of the year awards are typically more junior and beginning of the year awards are typically more senior.

I've ridden OAL jumpseats for many years. I've flown at AA for 32 years. AA has issues like every other airline, but honestly, what I've seen never made me wish to work anywhere else. It's a great job that gets better as you garner seniority.
We're supposed to hire between 750 and 900 this year with more off-the-street than recent years. Lots of retirements in the next few years, too.

If you're senior enough you can avoid many of the bad parts of our contract. At other airlines, it's a good job for everyone on property, not just the top 20%. Seniority still doesn't solve our profit sharing gap between Delta and United.

"People like you are what's wrong with this place. I'm guessing you voted yes and if you're still here during the next vote, you'll be voting yes again after the first offer. Someone who is a 787 CA with 32 years of seniority has no business commenting. No offense but your world is totally different than the majority here"
+++++
Way to go, Sparky.
You hit that one outta the park.....You could not be more WRONG.
The last time I voted yes was 1991, when some bid statuses got a 45% raise. I've been doing union work for 31 years. You have the stones to tell me I have "no business commenting"? If anybody here needs a big mug of ****, it's the guy in your bathroom mirror.
"No offense"...really? That's as passive/aggressive as it gets.
Every generation of pilots has to fight for good contracts and wages. You are no different.

You DO realize that someday you are going to be an old senior dog and some young know it all schmuck is going to (wrongfully) blame YOU for all that'll be wrong with your airline, right?
A little shortsighted are you?
People like you are what's wrong with this and other message boards. It brings out the worst in so many people.
