Back when I was young in the 1970's I only wanted to fly for Playboy. The DC9 painted black. It was called Bunny 1.

I never got the job, probably cause I was in Jr High School at the time.

Wake up! Apply everywhere.

Are you telling me you wouldn't' love being a senior Delta/United/Alaska Captain someday?

You will look back and say I was really dumb.

Apply everywhere.

Sorry to hear that. I don't really know about the reapplication process but will echo what 7576FO said. Apply everywhere! and at least get a job at another major while you wait for the AA callback. I really wanted to work at UAL, and well, I'm here now...so that's how that worked out. After a year here I had the opportunity to interview at UAL, and chose to stay put for a variety of reasons.

Good luck

Same, except I never renewed my application after a month at AA; also for a variety of reasons. Apply everywhere.

Reminds me of a Delta Captain who retired a few years ago after 43 years at Delta who remembered that he applied to Delta only after being turned down by Eastern (the only company he wanted to work for) and sulking in disbelief for 6 months before he got over his astonishment of not being hired by Eastern.

Best of luck, and hope you find a company for the next 43 years to hang your hat (unless you go to a company where hats aren't required).

Looks I'm getting roasted on here and rightfully so. I didn't clarify. I already work at another "legacy" but AA is one airline that would greatly improve my quality of life with regards to not having to commute anymore. That's what I meant by only wanting to work their.

Thx for all the responses.

Thanks for all the encouraging messages. It reassures me of what I already knew that while not perfect AA is a great company to spend the rest of my aviation career at. I'm looking forward to working with all of you in the near future! So here's a question. After the SLI happens do you guys think MIA will remain a junior base?

Yes. It's been junior for decades. The w/b flying, mostly Deep South, is part of the reason.

We don't really have a super-senior base anymore. SEA was in the rafters when we had it, and (the late great) SFO, LAX, and ORD have had their moments, but with the movement we've had in the last few years and the anticipated movement in the future, none of the LAA bases should be out of reach for more than a few months for new-hires.

Can't speak about the LUS bases, and with the SLI things may change a bit, but we're all mostly old farts now, and whichever domicile is your dream base will likely be open to you pretty quickly.

All predicated on continued hiring of course, no matter how weak or strong.
