My trips are nearly all red eyes, though I am able to improve them. Not sure if that will be the case with this green, red, reddish system that I hear about. I honestly don't even know what that means. Right now if there is a better trip available when they get to me, I get it, and my red eye gets dropped.

In PBS parallel bidding, I didn't get a line, and my 5th layer was completely unconstrained and reshuffled. I think it's because most of the guys above me who intentionally bid reserve, didn't bother to parallel bid,and were awarded a line by default.

I think those colors are a way of showing coverage for certain days. Probably the red days will not allow for swaps.

I didn't think the system would automatically award anyone a line.... I think it goes down and just throws whatever on guys who don't specify..... And if the most junior guy wants a line and guys above him didn't bid, it certainly should throw them on reserve.

(I could be misunderstanding that, but how would the system even know they want lines? I would think unspecified=most undesirable= short call reserve.)

SkyWest uses the same program. There if a pilot doesn't bid the system uses a bid of max weekends off for that pilot's bid. It's probably the same here.

Thats a work rule thing not a system. It wasn't explained to us in the class like that.

Yeah, I believe the awarding of lines to non parallel bidders is/was only for the parallel bids. Since a lot of guys won't parallel bid they wanted to mitigate it somehow.

Deltas PBS system does the opposite if you don't bid, it tries by default to build a line, any line. If it can't then it builds a reserve line.
Anybody can ask for reserve line though and if enough senior pilots ask for reserve then you can be forced into a line even as a junior guy which can happen during busy months on international especially.

This is correct.

We've had several clients get the nod for the video interview invite today as well.
