This is odd, because I also know a guy that is in the same boat. Same month and everything. He's at United now but might still be interested in AA.

If you guys hear anything, keep us updated. He sent an email to Recruiting and never got a reply.

Also, somewhere in one of these threads I think there is gouge that states to NOT email recruiting as it puts your name on the bad list. I have no idea if that is true or not.

Definitely true!

(At least when I was hired.)

DO NOT call or attempt to find out how stuff is going. I know of people who actually had job offers withdrawn for this reason.

The told us not to call, and they meant it. Took me 9 weeks to hear back after the interview. They told us to not call-and I took that as literally as possible. (Meaning-don't call, email or anything.)

Just let them do their thing, they don't have time or patience for 10K people to be calling for a "how's it looking?" response all the time.

I'm sure the folks at pilot recruitment are super busy with the thousands of apps on file, but it seems counterintuitive to be penalized for showing expressed interest. Especially after waiting patiently for 12+ months to hear something. Surely this can't be true.

Again, if there's anybody here who knows someone who knows someone, let them know that there are still guys in the pipeline that are excited for the opportunity!

It was 100% true when I was hired.

I have seen more than a few posts about guys who called or emailed after a few weeks of now word, and they got the "thanks but no thanks" email the very same day.

Seriously-don't do it.

This drive me nuts! It's a grand conceit on the part of the HR/hiring department to leave people on the hook with no word and expect them to actually wait. People have lives...

Not saying its right.... But it was one of the rules. They want to see who can follow the rules.

Another rule was they wanted to see you show up for the interview in your full uniform. I bought a whole new uniform. Supposedly, guys who worked at a 121 carrier who showed up wearing anything other than their full uniform weren't hired.

It's all part of the game. Each legacy has their own version of the game. Best just to play along and comply to the best of your ability.

(It is very wise for people who are interviewing to go and read the gouge from online sites who sell such things. I subscribed to one pay site for gouge. I also paid for good interview prep. Well worth it to get as much intel as possible. People should keep in mind that this is an airline interview. Regardless of what anyone says, it is not an informal "just show up and tell us funny stories" event. It is nothing to freak out about, but it is best to be ready to play the game 100%. They want to see people who have done their homework-and the gouge is part of that prep.)

I absolutely agree with you. Leaving people on the hook is insane and goes to show how little they think of those whom they interview, especially considering under the US interviewing they knew that afternoon if you were hired or not.

The only thing I can say is treat it like you didn't get hired and don't stop applying/interviewing at other places. I knew guys hired but kept on the hook for months who accepted jobs at UAL and DAL. We lost out on quality people because of our policies.

I am not recommending calling or checking, but I will say I think the environment is different. My call was about a week after interview and no mention of not calling and checking. I did also send some email about moving my availability date forward, and they we very receptive (got the class date I wanted). Overall they were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We were all mil, so not sure if the interview in uniform is still on. Bring your A game, be 100% and do everything. However, it was a much better environment than I was expecting after reading through numerous threads here.

Turning down an applicant that is very interested in working for us...
That makes total sense to me now after seeing how things work here.
