The 190 would actually be a great choice for those who live in an area where you can sit at home on long call reserve. Even for those who can't, long call is 1000x better than short call. You never have to call to get released, and the trip assignment is so transparent you can see what you're going to be doing a day or two out most times.
The trips, OK, not the greatest. Nothing like the AB stuff. But on reserve you're not really working so much even on long call, so you don't have to do too many of them.
The 190 in my class went senior for those reasons. You're getting paid the same, why not be able to sit at home? The hard-on for the 75/76 as a new hire to me was just crazy, you're going to be short call the entire year with ZERO chance of getting off and on long call. Meanwhile, we are all paid the same and I'm averaging 23 days a month at home!

I tried calling at first for my first couple sequences. Was told several times that they don't release long calls. You just are off. Yes, I suppose they *could* call you at 2 pm on your last day and work you into your off day, but the chances are extremely low, especially if you aren't #1 in the bucket.
If you are #2, #3, #4 in bucket on your last day go home. You're done.
If you commute in to sit long call, when you get on your flight to go home call them and tell them you are commuting and leave a message on your phone just like when coming in. Worst case scenario you turn around and have 12 hours to get back there.
Outside of internet-land I don't know anyone who sits in a pad on their last day till 1201 am and leaves the next day as an R. I actually don't know anyone who commutes in for an R sequence either but I suppose that it happens occasionally. I'd still much rather be an R, as you tend to work more and get trips that fill out till the end of your sequence (a perfect ending in reserve life). Sitting in a pad for 18 days a month is not my idea of fun...
All of this circles back to the 190 post above as well. You'll be off reserve and into a block sooner so if you *do* commute without many options to sit reserve at home, you won't even have to worry about any of it.

From what I was told second hand (asking for a buddy hired into 'either' side), they'd like to do this but the FAA has told the company that PRIA paperwork/newhire paperwork was certificate specific, and therefore the company must decide that before you are on property- or something to that affect. Flight Admin would like to just have a drop with all system aircraft/bases, but are unable due to certificate limitations. Don't really know how this has translated into class calls, but I've heard LUS is a priority 'this week' as Eagle flow throughs and recalls are filling the LAA slots.
And yes, there's a training backup that's hopefully being alleviated on the LAA side. Good Luck, and try to remain patient!

To add to this, when recruiting ran our PRIA, they ran it for both certificates, so the copies we received from the FAA had "Anerican" and US Airways" separate copies.
