No, not when you have a proposal on the table. Until Dec 9th the Kirby was on the table. We knew what it was and it was a POS. What else might have been available was unknown. As I've said, over and over again, if there was a DL contract on the table for the taking, then you might have a point. It wasn't.

As for the rest, I don't know, we will have to see. But if I were you I wouldn't pay my dues!

Ok so if you accept the proposal game over and you would be correct. How often does that happen?? I will tell you, almost never. A proposal is passed and most often rejected and then we get into the coulda, woulda, shoulda!

One can not just say "i'm not paying dues anymore". First you must petition the NLRB and prove the union is not functioning in a capacity to represent pilots. A letter to the company asking for documentation on usapa's involvement or the lack thereof in the merger process. If the NLRB agrees they will say so in writing and that letter is then sent to the company and dues payments can cease. Now wanna make a real dent have more than 100 pilots do it and they will shut down all dues payments.

Can the union spend dues money on politics that I either don’t care about or oppose?Yes. In one case decided by the Supreme Court, Communications Workers v. Beck, the union was found to be spending almost 80 percent of its dues money on matters unrelated to collective bargaining, such as campaign contributions. Under the law, if workers who are not union members object to the use of their money for things that are not directly related to collective bargaining, they are entitled to a refund of the portion of their dues spent on politics and other non-bargaining activities. When non-unionized workers have attempted to get their money back, they have usually met with opposition and stonewalling from union officials.

Lets start this show, what do you say relay?

I easily could be wrong, but I thought the Kirby got slapped on the table as the comprehensive final offer from the company?

Actually it was their first and only offer. We were preparing to counter at the time which was very close to today's mou rates. The east MEC pulled their JNC members and refused to negotiate any further unless the west agreed to alter the arbitration award. It had F/0's with 8yrs at the carrier at $105/hr and Captain on the narrow body excluding the 190's at $180. This turned out to be a major win for the company and management but it was an epic failure for the pilots.

Oh, why didn't you say so?! The company certainly would have accepted that proposal. West logic at it's best.

A west pilot told me that you don't have to pay dues. I'd believe if I were you. I'd ignore any letters threatening to fire you too.

What show is that?

How can someone in your position argue anything regarding logic when your team up and QUIT???

Often you make little to no sense at all and this is yet another example of why the east scraped the bottom of the barrel in terms of pay and benefits for over a decade. I swear you have no idea what anyone would or would not accept and you leave zero room to even comment when you quit.

OMG!!!OMG!!!! Somebody from America freekin West Airlines, the absolute bottom of the barrel for most of it's existence and the target of US Airways management for LOA 93, preaches about scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Even with LOA 93 I bet there is not a single AWA pilot that will match my career earnings.

Merry Christmas WD.

Well he would be wrong unless the proper channels were followed. Try not to worry yourself too much about what I do and concentrate on that reserve schedule If the things work out like I think they might you will be on res until you retire.

I doubt it WD. I've got over 16 years to go(Lord willing) and I'm a captain now. Held a block in Oct and will probably hold one in Feb.

Cacti, that's the pitiful soul you need to worry about.
