Computers could do parts of any of these things, but obviously there is still some human involvement required. I don't feel too threatened yet.
Doctors do operations now from around the world via robotics, never meeting the patient or being within 10,000 miles of them. Some posters here would say that's not true either because you have to be present, the technology isn't there and you'd have to be a Dr hater to even think it. That's the difference between over paid button-pushers and people who live outside a tin can working on real world issues instead of defending their ATP PhD.

You can't instantly apply technology to the airline world. It takes YEARS of jumping through hoops and spending millions of dollars just to get something approved. And the FAA moves at a snails pace.
Technology is here.

No thanks from me, get your ego fix in the cockpit while you still have a job there.
It's absolutely true, 1990 graduate of the Air Force Academy, master's degree from the University of Idaho as I considered Test Pilot School. I'm apparently not the one who has a problem with ego or telling the truth.

Again I'll ask, are you a pilot, who do you work for, what are your degrees in?

If you continue to refuse, take your anti-military sympathies elsewhere, because you are both in the minority and ungrateful.

Back on topic, a lot of American Frequent Fliers seemed to be more concerned about losing their Advantage Miles or traveler status that may result from a future merger, rather than being concerned about the current sporatic disruption in operations.

Chicago Tribune - Is it safe to fly American Airlines?

According to APC info: UAL has approximately 12000 pilots. 6000 x avg annual salary of 70000 for FOs (I imagine/hope that it's actually higher than that), equals a potential savings of 420 million per YEAR.

That doesn't include pensions, retirement contributions, healthcare, administration support costs, training, etc.

Trust me, it's bound to happen sometime. It won't be an "all at once" integration obviously, and more than likely it willmhappen overseas first, but manufacturers will head that way and airlines WILL follow.

Not that long ago people would have sworn that FEs couldn't have been replaced by technology and that safety would be compromised by removing the third crew member from the flight deck.

Ok, so what do you do in the real world? (besides troll airline pilot forums) And BTW- I made less than $40,000 last year getting thousands of people safely to their destinations. How much less do you think I should make?

You haven't kept up with the thread, I've said many commuter pilots work a whole lot harder and for a whole lot less pay than these 121 guys and in a commuter your not pushing buttons, some do mostly hand flying. So in your case you may be way under paid for what you do and fly. The button pushers, no.

As a reminder to all on this thread, there is a useful feature on the forums:

User CP

Add to ignore list

I just exercised the utility and it works great. You can avoid folks who post useless drivel that wastes your time.
