I still don't think USAPA is "discussing the issues" (that being the APA/U CLA), just present in the hope of being allowed to discuss the issues.
I've yet to hear of any airline CEO who willingly hands over more money to his pilots unless he has to, so Parker is no different then anyone else in that. Additionally, USAPA has selected the strategy of intransegence and you expect a reward from Parker for that, for preventing him from merging his 2 airlines ?
Well............if you say so.
While I understand the frustration with having another union negotiate your future by default, I think formally letting USAPA into the mix with their track record would have tanked the deal.........which of course, is what USAPA/East would prefer, because...........well, let's face it, they are all about tanking deals less they get virtually all of their demands. From my understanding, half the U pilots (the west) don't even consider USAPA their union anyway and so don't seem so bristled at the thought of APA moving the ball there forward. Perhaps not as forward as desired, but considering the situation at U, better then USAPA tyranny in perpituity.
Don't worry, if USAPA isn't allowed to alter the AA/U equation, I'd expect a lawsuit to be filed against the APA, Parker and perhaps even baby huey.

Your line about tanking deals unless the east gets what they want is B.S. Save it for the westies. The most complaints I hear is from the west. Remember the west guy on here saying that the APA is losing their support?
What I'm saying is that I think it would be a good idea for the APA to listen to US pilots. Take the E190 rate. Why would the APA accept that low of a rate and come up with another 2 million in concessions when jetBlue's rate is about $20 hr more!?
As I said, I expect the AA pilots to look after themselves, but US pilots have a lot of experience dealing with Parker, Hemmingway and Glass. Maybe you guys don't really know everything...........

If we don't merge I don't believe usapa will get us a contract, I believe it will take a merger or BK to get a contract at this property. If I am wrong, then I believe any contract usapa comes up with will take from the west and give to the east and be much worse than the apa contract, in fact usapa's comprehensive proposal did just that. You are right about my anger, but it's just not me, it's 90% of the west pilot's that want a steak driven thru your sham union. Every day under east pilot control is a terrible loss to west careers.

USAPA was not there at the start and I understand that. What I hear now is that they are there now but not as an equal partner. Parker has said he had to get started with the APA first, but is one board with USAPA being a party as long as the bottom dollar amount is met.

Why was the term sheet specifically set up for the apa to take over asap, something never before seen in a merger? You are a big boy, you should be able to figure it out. You are correct on experience dealing with Doug, I started a thread on the very subject of good things on the west contract that needed to be shared with the apa. It's hard for the apa to take us seriously when usapa sends the idiots to speak for us, diorio and the note taker, embarrassing to say the least

You know what side I am on as far as Nic- but cactiboss makes some very valid points regarding negotiating a new contract. We all should insist on the same medial that the West already has. I personally know folks who would have quit years ago, if not for the medical insurance and it is a very important aspect of the contract. There are many people in this business who had no choice but to work under this deplorable contract simply because they had families and could not risk being uninsured. While this new contract does not completely take away insurance, it does chip away at something very important, particularly for older pilots or pilots with families.(which is most pilots)Once again, Parker has an end number and works backwards. It should not be an either or. I used to use this tactic raising children - I gave them two choices that I liked and made them think it was their idea. Furthermore, clearly Parker still does not believe that he has to negotiate with the East OR West. He is making a deal with American for 6 years which equals 10 Parker years- at which time most of the East will no longer be an issue.
