Parker is supposed to brief USAPA next week. It will be interesting to see what spins out of that meeting.
The following is from Nicolau with some comments by one of our past reps:
Consider George Nicolau's words:
There are four basic lessons [in a seniority integration arbitration]: that each case turns on its own facts; that the objective it to make the integration fair and equitable; that the proposals advanced by those in contest rarely meet that standard; and that the end result, no matter how crafted, never commands universal acceptance.
Yes, bringing a captain seat to the dance counts for something - but it certainly does NOT guarantee or even imply a relative integration. Hire date and time in service are always important factors; they just are not the ONLY factors and how much weight they get depends upon how strong the other factors are. With a standard no bump / no flush requirement, it means that somebody who brings a captain seat gets to keep it. So the question becomes advancement. George Nicolau C&R'd the West off nearly all of the East captain upgrades; the only reason we were awarded any is because of the fact that nearly 90 cents of every dollar in a new contract would go East and therefore they had a HUGE financial windfall at our expense. The only way to equitably distribute career earnings between the groups was to grant the West some of the East's upgrades. We don't have that pay disparity problem anymore, and in fact, we will already have the contract in place when we begin the SLI. IMHO - that means primarily other factors will govern the ratios. Ratio does not necessarily mean relative seniority.

Gentlemen read your email and the LOU that is on the APA website(I would have included the entire LOU, but it requests to remain confidential and not for distributuion)
Send a sound off to your reps. I have emailed the APA and looking for clarification if that means we Furloughees lose recall rights. How WRONG would that be. Not even a Staple job. Not even sure if they could do that. Just a bizarre proposal. not sure how we are any cost to them. Might be a setup for a staple job. you know, be happy you got anything. Starting to feel even worse than TWA guys, except for the TWA guys that are now on furlough. They'd be getting it twice. Politics SUK
- Furlough protection will be extended down to the most junior active pilot on the property on the effective date.

But I'm just happy I was able to get a cool AA Hat to wear for Halloween every year....remember two great airlines...one great future.
