This airline has no slack. Everything is set up to be as "efficient" as possible, If a flight is late is delays everything. Just look at the WB fleet, the flights are so close together that a delayed rome flight will delay the next three international flights because the flights are scheduled to the max. It's why they carry so many mels in the summer, there is no time to fix anything.

Didn’t Isom celebrate the 25 year anniversary of some America West executive during this SOTA?.
Kinda reminds me to Pelosi or McConnell in politics. People that don’t matter how they perform or how well they do things, they’re like parasites, don’t go anywhere and they’re never the problem, just the solution.

It keeps the operation running on schedule. If you wait until 10 past departure for three people to show up and cause 30 people to miss their min connections in CLT, you just made your problem much worse.

Meh. Almost always not how it works though. These decisions can also be filtered down to case by case: Pilot to GA: "Hey the company told me there will be some runners. Based on our flight plan and the fact that the airport is using runway XXX we'll be able to make up 20-30 mins off the gate lets relax the D-10 and get those pax on board."

I'm just giving the reason why they care so much about it, not saying that there aren't exceptions. I had a flight recently where over half the flight had a connection of less than an hour in DFW.

meanwhile the gate I need is occupied because someone wants to wait for one more pax that still has three more flights to make it to their destination, or whose push is now blocking the alley for five inbounds because they pushed late.

You're not wrong. The vast majority of our hub flights have 2/3 to 4/5 of the plane connecting, with fairly short connections at that. Going to an outstation? No one is connecting on that leg but that 0:52 turn will have 140 connections on the way back and any minute you can make up getting out there helps tremendously.

When I commute I don't wear a uniform and I can hear everyone around me stressed about connections. I won't leave anyone behind on the last flight of the night to an outstation but one or two people are not more important than those going into a hub to connect.

People getting on AA about less than stellar profit. Don't forget this is the first full spring/summer with the CBA; the RA $$$ adds up. Hoping it forces them to tighten up the the slop.

No offense but I don't understand the desire for captains to stick their necks out of passengers when it only puts them on a collision course with a gate agent/fa/ and at the end of the day the flight office. We're not superman and it's not on our shoulders to save the day. It's muchess stressful and easier on your career to just stay in your lane.

Flight office lol. Do you work at AA?

We are in a customer service industry. Most airline employees would do well to remember that.

Using common sense and seeing that you are going to be 25 mins early because of wind and short taxi isn’t “sticking your neck out.”

All three Legacies got new CBAs, is it impacting AA more than UA and DL?
