good news is bad news and bad news is good news
AA reports a loss and stock goes up
who knows. I am sure all the experts will remind us how AA sucks and is facing immediate liquidation any day now
Delta is supposedly the benchmark for everything but their reservations system melted down (indeed, so did a lot of airlines...) while AA (mostly) did not.
But AA sucks

AA did not report a Q2 loss. They exceeded EPS expectations for Q2 which is partially why the stock had a brief rally.
They did slash earnings expectations for Q3.

Usually you can get the quarterly deck or a summary pdf like this from any company’s investor relations portal attached with their earnings call post.

Deltas meltdown is estimated at a $500m hit.
That "disliked Facebook personality" has been by far the most spot-on internet analyst since Covid. Consistent too. Pretty much "No, we're not going bankrupt but we will underperform DL and UA. 5-year time horizon"

Vasu's reservations screw up is estimated at a $1.5b hit.

I feel like we are like United back when smisek was running it. All we need is a competent ceo and not some America West flunky and we could really turn this place around. At least we got rid of vasu, now we need to just get rid of isom, Seymour and that guy from West jet pulling us out of all thise international markets.
Parker is long gone.

I don't understand why this management is so _obsessed_ with D-10. Does it generate revenue? How many upset pax have we left behind because metrics have to be met? What about focusing on customer care and quality? Like fixing APUs in the summer...
