MIC is the key here. If your jet is broken at an outstation and you end up hours late into the hub and you still have another flight to do that day. In order to keep the operation better on time, they'll remove you from your next flight (the M in misconnect) and reassign someone coming into the hub. So those guys gets the RA premium pay, while you don't. You might get released when you get back to hub, but you're still subject to fly within the orginal trip block (RO) if you're good for more days. No premium. You can always(?) turn down the RO, but then you don't get paid for your orginal trip.

Can you turndown the RO unilaterally? And if yes, and you are an outstation and there are no more flights back to your base/home until tomorrow morning, can you get a hotel or are you on your own from the time you say no to an RO? Basically no hotel provided and you will have to pay if you get one. And on reserve, how does the pay work, turning down an RO. Reduction in the guarantee?

I don’t think it’s implemented yet.

Reserves can’t be put into RO. They can only be rescheduled. RO rules do not apply to reserves.

Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but stay AWAY from the Director of Flight in PHL. I heard about a new CP in MIA who's out there to make a name for herself ..

Im new so I'm still trying to learn the contract. However, last week I was Deadhead out to DEN to fly the same plane back, upon getting there, there was no Captain (the day of the computer mess) so my flight was canceled and I was RO to deadhead back the next day (I'm on SC Reserve). I was not put on Reassignment. Should I have been?

That would not be RO, but a reschedule after a disruption. Different part of contract and what rules what reserves get when it comes to an RA(AF) or something different after a MIC(usually coded as 25).

I see. So, do I need to contact someone to reclassify that and reflect it properly? If so, whom?

Thanks!
