Oh I don’t know. A lot of people are upgrading at about the two year mark now. It’s kind of the new normal. But remember, most of those folks were Captains at a regional or long time MIL aircraft commanders.
I came from a MIL FW background, followed by 2 years as a regional FO, then made CA at AA in two years. I think the folks who were at AA for 15 years before they could upgrade had MORE time to prepare themselves for the upgrade, but two years on property is enough if you watch and learn as an FO.

I never understood the quick upgrade hate. Very few if anybody on property should be considered to be low experience or low time. Plenty of experience in the regionals before people come in here. In the last few months I have flown with new hires from NetJets Alaska Spirit and a myriad of regionals. Many of them there for 5 years to 20 years.
