Doesn’t that mean the opposite?. People with vacation offered to float it and work instead?.
which would be so dumb after offering blank lines

No, its if you have VC days that you floated in the annual bid; you can proffer for the weeks they offer and use the days you floated.

So it means the company sees less flying and are saying hey, we don't need ya, want to go on vacation?

The whole vacation float proffer is confusing in fairness though. I still don't 100% get it. But what I said is the general gist, I think

Man they love complicating things. Even the Compass document is confusing

They’ve got flow charts for their flow charts.

They are just trying to get guys to burn their float time before the holidays.

There will likely be less than 200 float proffers. With 400 retirements in the next 4 months, we will be short staffed of FOs before you know it.

No, it is precisely because we are fat on FOs. Burn off vacation before the holidays? The vacation awarded over the holidays was already bidded for earlier this year. In addition the company is not under any obligation to offer any additional vacation over the holidays if they don’t want to so there is no need to try to get people to burn it off before the holidays.

There is no precedence for this float proffer bid over the last three years. Also the list contains nearly every FO position and very few CA positions. As a matter of fact there are zero CA NB available while 19 FO NB bid statuses are able to float proffer, the only CA positions are WB.

To be honest the reason I am really noticing this is because I had something in October pop up and was really hoping to be able to float proffer but you are SOL on the CA side.

Its interesting. Now that kids are back in school I’m flying half to 3/4 full airplanes. I know that management said they saw demand softening during their quarterly earnings call and (IIRC) state of the airline. Guess time will tell how soft it gets.

Every flight that I have flown has been full and we even had 2 jumpseaters on multiple flights. I guess it all depends on where you are flying.
