I’ve flown 737/747 and now the airbus, and honestly it makes your life 10x easier….BUT I do respect and understand the fact that not everybody likes it and prefer the 737.
I still prefer the Boeing way here and there, but overall really happy with it.
Schedules and destinations, also seniority progression, that’s a different story yeah.

Regarding the -80... I'd still be on it if we had it. Hands down the most fun I've ever had in my airline career.
I agree about the S80 it was a great jet. Absolutely hot af in the summer but everything else was great. Oh except being limited to FL250 at the end. And no useable VNAV. Anemic climbs. Having to scrape the wings for ice using a ladder and special broom. Hydraulic leaks everywhere you looked. Flight controls that used trim tabs.

ok other than that it was "great", I guess no FOQA made it "fun" lol

Still deciding between bidding 320 FO LGA or ORD next vacancy to get a change of scenery from CLT. 3XP is showing 175 in my status in LGA currently but 119 as of December. Is LGA shrinking or are there going to be a lot of seats to fill next vacancy?

I was curious about this so looked at the target staffing for 320FO/D from the past few vacancies:

189-211-300-146-177-185-170

The 211/300 numbers I think are outside the bell curve as I'm guessing it correlated with throwing every last 320FO we had into LGA because everyone was bidding out so fast. The CA numbers made much more sense and were consistent with the other vacancies.

So to answer your question, it looks like it's been fairly stable over the past few years around the 170-180 number.

I can drive to CLT but admit I looked at going back to NYC due to the trips. I bid sub 50% in seat too.

Nah, I will wait until the next one and show up there in the spring time.
Are there plans to grow the A320 at ORD beyond just 35 CA and FOs?

Nobody knows for sure but…

There’s no way an entire category was opened for just 70 pilots so I’d say the logical answer is ‘yes’.

We’ll know more in a couple weeks when the March ‘25 vacancy is released.

The last vacancy showed the future projection for 2025 to be roughly 80/80.

I never flew the mad dog , but I did jumpseat a few times. My favorite memory was towards the end during that phase of life where they were limited to 25k. The flight prior, also a mad dog, was delayed to the point where we pushed off the gates 5 mins apart. I had the more seasoned captain apparently who knew that the 25k was Captain discretion and opted to race the other guy at a higher altitude. Short flight but we almost pulled it off.

25k was a hard limit per company

They had multiple pitot tubes ice over/block and couldn't figure out what was going on. At least one that I know of stalled up at altitude (knew the crew).

Well that October Float Proffer certainly illustrated how fat we are on FOs right now. I would be very surprised if new hire classes started back up in Jan.
