What Mando said.

Personally, I'd be perfectly fine with a system that didn't utilize any leveling at all aside fromt he 85 hour cap. I'm about 50% in my seat and would expect that such a system would skew reserve more senior.

The way this is actually working is not how I remember the explanations from the road show. Sure I could have read the contract. But here we are over a year later and it's evident that most pilots, including the folks on the official help line still don't understand it. We are just now figuring out what the contract language and implementation mean. Previously PASS ALL was "awarded" after considering GTD within a variance group. That part has now gone away and is nothing like the old system for processing. PASS ALL being an award without reference to RDW is useless to junior pilots and not at all like the previous system. The contract says "Sequences will be Awarded in seniority order," not passing. Even if we did understand the contract when we were voting on it I don't see how that could be interpreted to equate PASS option as a Sequence. It also says that open time will be processed based on RDW, which will only happen if the bucket is closed (more sequences thank pilots). It's not a stretch to think that RDW was a replacement for GTD, which it is not, and I think we were led to believe it would be.

Wouldn't it be better to do that trip for premium pay? It would pay more.

If you're SC on a RAP you're not getting a PR trip.

Used to be a small chance of getting it on days with a lot of OT. But now that chance is next to nil with the bucket system. That’s because now not only does a trip need to be available after the LCs are used but now that trip has to match the number of days available. In order to get a trip that doesn't match your days people in other buckets would have had to been used.

We were sold that this was a better system. We were told that the new system would make it easier to get the trips we want. We were lied to. APA has given up so much over the last 10 years (two contracts) without much to gain other than pay, which was always going to match UA/DL, that it should be obvious to everyone. APA is severely outmatched by AA corporate. Time to bring in the power and resources that comes with ALPA. Don’t let the mission hackers and the “you’ll be senior someday son” crowd tell you different.

All joking aside, looks like a lot of time off this month for reserves.

The people who get it regularly would disagree. The company loves this mentality though. It saves them money. What was it your last CEO said, “we’re going to be fourth”?

Does a few times a month count as “regularly”?

If you have the defeatist attitude that “I’ll never get premium/greenslip”, and you don’t even try for it, then you never will.

I’ve see the schedules of several people. When the scheduling department needs someone, they’ll pay up. They’re really happy when someone bails them out for less though.

Your time at home is valuable. Don’t let the company get it at a discount.

What's a greenslip?

Yep, he doesn't work here so not sure why he is commenting in this thread. Another Delta pilot sticking their nose in.
