Seniority should have its privilleges, but being junior does not need to suck.
It's the APA mentality and Jules got indoctrinated really quick here. Yes, seniority should have its privileges but improvements can be made for all people. Other airlines have shown how that can be done.

It may be anecdotal, but I have been one of the most junior pilots (like top 3) in my bucket, all weekend. Senior folks have snagged most trips, and I have been awarded pass all. Just a data point. Im also in a huge bid status.

I'm like ~5/70 on reserve, was the top guy out of five at one point in my LC bucket, and got a 21 hour three day over the weekend. What's worse is AA canceled 3 flights into the hub the morning of my commute and delayed the 4th over an hour, so I ended up having to drive it. I'll give it one more month then going back to a line, **** reserve lol.

Snagged because they requested the trips or assigned because they didn't bid pass all?

That's a great question. I dont know. My assumption is that they balloted for these trips because "Pass All" is literally the easiest function in RAS.

Maybe he'll come back and explain how they assign reserve trips at Delta. Other airlines too, I'm curious.

Do all other airlines balance reserves out or do some just do straight up junior guy always gets the trip?

I had the most RDW in the 3 day bucket outside of DOTC and got a 3 day trip while other people with fewer RDW and junior to me didn't. So you can add me to the list of people that think this system sucks.

They also assigned me a RAP much earlier than I requested, probably so I'd be QLA for this trip. Good thing we have a long term sick bank now because it sounds like I'll be using SIN more and hammering my short term bank.

I sent a support ticket when I was assigned vs someone junior to me, their response was if someone even has one (1) minute of availability on that day, they'll show as in your bucket.

I liked the bucket system under Airways, so far I'm not impressed with it as implemented currently.
