We can play this game all day, but if we aren't hiring, then LCA are on the line. We also have less airplanes coming in due to delays, hence the lack of hiring. All other things being equal, a more efficient reserve system with less people sitting reserve means lineholders will be diluted.

I think it is coming soon with the new reserve system. I saw an email or CCI, but I deleted it, but there will be options in the DOTC app for reserves.

Yes, they have done this to me several times since I have been on SCR. The worst was a 1.5-hour show for sign-in. Trying to get there on time always stresses me out as I don't stay right in CLT. I know we don't have a time definition per se, but being on Probation, I don't want to be 'that guy' holding up the flight as all the Pax and FA's stare me down as I board the aircraft.

my honest opinion (that nobody asked for....welcome to APC) is nobody knows, nor will know for about 3 months past implementation, of "truly how" this system will impact things.

years ago, reserves flew all major holidays. Now they flew less of them, arguably "rarely fly them" due to holiday pay now.

I think this will be a wait-and-see situation. I frown at the folks who boldly "know" what is going to happen.

it will probably be important to be precise with our terminology, My bad ...Currently we don't "proffer" we "preference". As far as I know the company only uses the term "proffer volunteer request" to mean that as a SC, you are willing to be processed in DOTC for the following days trips after the LC are processed (highly recommend you don't do this by the way).

It won't be called "aggressive pickup" like at other airlines per se but you will be able to bid for trips and specific flying with the new reserve tab in DOTC. Awards and assignments will both be processed in seniority order, and you can participate even from the bottom of the list, or bucket. Currently your preference only matters on SC when your group is up for assignment. I'm gathering this from the CCI message and the way Ed described it on the town hall..he talked about purposely bidding for flying early in your block or month to get way down the list to then try to leverage "pass all" later in the month.

New system seems to have some advantages in this regard

my fear as well...nothing stopping the company from getting more out of the reserves while keeping the LHs at 84 hours a piece by just reducing overall pilot headcount...

Ok. Good info. Curious why you recommend against the PVR? I havent used it yet. It seems it would be advantageous for me to be assigned during DOTC, vice commuting 5hrs for SCR just to sit around.

Don’t recommend PVR because you aren’t processed in seniority order when they assign the long calls at the beginning of DOTC.…which means after they are all done getting their trips, then they assign any PVRs with whatever is left over.

Now if you’re commuting in to SC and just want to fly no matter what, then it could be fine.

I desperately didn’t want to fly and saw trip sat in OT for hours, waited until just barely past a 12 hour call out for the LC, then assigned it to me on SC. I was kind of annoyed.

I still had to fly the trip but filed a contract compliance report referencing how open time should be assigned (not when, but how), and the company paid me 2-something hours. Was sort of shocked.

The only problem with PVR is if you don’t get assigned a trip and you had a “day of” commutable RAP, you may screw yourself into a “day prior” RAP (have to head up the night before). Fool me once… lol!

1,000% this. The downside to not getting a trip is contractually they can put you on whatever RAP they want. The one time I tried it I got an 0200 RAP.

Um, no.
