We did, which is why I asked why we can’t do 2,000.

I think we will hire. Still have 3 XLR this year and 16 next year that will(hopefully) show up. Probably won't be ready until spring but still coming. 5 787 and 14 max. Who knows how that will play out. Boeing is in a pickle.

800+ retirements. Don't forget the increase in LTD. It's up to 711 out right now. The number will climb as we age and have a much better program since the new contract signing. 43 more out on medical in the last month. It's coming.

Matter of fact on my recent trip to Charleston I saw all 5 of them beautifully painted in AA colors sitting in the parking lot looking ready less the missing engines.

It might be listed somewhere on the company site as well, but that info is listed on the Expanded 3XP on the union site.

It's also on AAPilots.. Go to your personal profile and on the bottom left under 'Informational Links' there is a link 'Projected Future Retirements (next 20 years).

XLR's might be 15-20 pilots per jet. 737 MAX's are probably closer to 12-15 pilots per jet. 787's around 20-23 pilots per airplane.

That's in the neighborhood of 500-600 pilots needed for next year's deliveries? Add in retirements + 10% and you're be close to the expected hiring demand. Is that 1300-1400??

What does the 10% represent in this calculation?

I’m an optimistic person I swear, but based on how well Boeing is doing lately and the fact that XLR will do “normal” domestic flying during 2025 (supposedly) until we start the Europe flying…I’d say 1,000 pilots because of retirements and few NB deliveries. I’ll be more than happy to be wrong.
