Not only that, but AA found a way to squander that advantage of

We've already hired enough over the last 3 years to cover the COVID shortage and retirements. We so over hired in anticipation of aircraft deliveries that retirements are covered through next year. Mayne longer if they want to lean the operation. The good news is that it is mostly on the FO side so upgrades should continue in these vacancy bids, although not as many as in the past is my guess.

I think we may be sitting in a good position for the future. We aren’t scheduled to retire any planes until 2030 and we’ve got a whole bunch of 737s and 787s on order (and NEO/XLR). I’d bet that as soon as Boeing gets their proverbial poop together, hiring picks back up a bit. I’m curious to see how many CJOs go out at RTAG. It was around 80 last year. It will be a windsock indicator.

Love how people keep saying lots of airplanes on order and no plans to retire any planes. It is simply fantasyland to think AA will increase capacity that much when the industry is already complaining about overcapacity, driving down RASM big time.

No one gives a damn what you have to say about anything.

I knew it was quite a few. I did think it was a bit strange that a bunch of non-rotorheads kind of commandeered the conference chasing those face-to-face meet and greets, but hey, whatevs. I didn't do the RTAG thing, but I love what it has done for we lowly Army chopper-jocks. We've been representing pretty favorably around the industry, according to those that I've spoken with.

It's the same at every conference. Anyone can attend the special interest conferences (men at the women's conference, white people at OBAP, etc etc) but it just so happens RTAG is the cheapest at FREE for veterans and $50 for civilians. The rest will set you back a good $500 or so. But I would recommend going to one of the smaller ones like PAPA or NGPA to get noticed. There are THOUSANDS of pilots at RTAG, it's just too big at this point.

I’ve actually been shocked at how many rotorheads I’ve met out there flying the line. RTAG definitely opened the door for many of us. It has grown into something so incredible, and now it focuses on helping any and all veterans wanting to get into the aviation industry not just us.
