I was getting out, albeit going Reserve but no orders for 6 months, no biggie, interviews, CJOs, all looking great, then COVID hits the fan March and I had closed on our house, wife, son, and another on the way staring unemployment in the face in 90 days. Stay on it, as mentioned backups to backups and you'll make it. Good luck.
Completely different environment than 4 years ago thankfully. As it turns out shortly after AA released that message another opportunity popped up and I’m starting in 3 weeks. Not exactly where the wife and I expected or even considered but as they say don’t pass up a good time in search of a good time.

A good reserve squadron should be taking care of you and throwing you on orders as much as possible to help you bridge the gap.

Right, that was the response to the question on have interviews started again in DFW.

Answer there is no, only interviewing at conferences now and if you have paid attention, it is much lower numbers than in 2022 and 2023.

Definitely read that wrong thinking they were saying only interviews, no CJOs at these conferences. Oops. But, wait really? CJOs are down though???

I was at OBAP in 2023 and 2024...

2023 there were around 60 CJOs given out
2024 had 11.

I couldn’t find how many CJOs were given out at LPA last year, but last year’s RTAG had 97. RTAG will be interesting to watch because it’s in DFW/AA is the big sponsor/last conference of the year.

keep in mind the CJO pool is much bigger now as there are people who got the CJO at the beginning of the year and are still waiting for a class.

That pool won't stay big if United and Delta keep running classes.

Hopefully that is what spurs them to start again.

This for sure. Pool drainage, another 400ish retirements between now and Jan '25, plus vacancies making holes in seats.
