Agreed. Late spring CJO and then things shutdown soon after. Zero communication from the company regarding plans for classes going forward. Have a backup plan to the backup plan

So, if you already have a job, have the ability to wait it out, are in no particular hurry, or if they are active duty and in the process of getting out and need to show the transition assistance program that they have a job lined up, then I wouldn’t say these new CJOs are meaningless…

“Though you continue to have a CJO with American, we've paused new-hire pilot class dates for the remainder of the year as part of the ongoing evaluation of our commercial and talent needs. We expect to make decisions about pilot class dates for the first quarter of 2025 later this year and will provide you with an update as soon as possible.”
I mean, realistically there are still 4 months left in this year…

whe you say zero communication from the company about plans for classes, do you mean outside of the initial email that said:

emphasizing again on class dates for early next year.
CJOs are a great thing to have for those at troubled carriers, allowing those pilots to navigate their current airline’s future while having a strong chance of opportunity at a new carrier.
Signed,
One of those pilots at a troubled carrier.

Can’t emphasize the back ups enough. For someone who’s separating from the military (not retiring) at the end of the month the timing of that email in June was terrible. Single income, married with a kid plus a very vague timeline doesn’t instill a lot of confidence to me or others with similar circumstances.

I was getting out, albeit going Reserve but no orders for 6 months, no biggie, interviews, CJOs, all looking great, then COVID hits the fan March and I had closed on our house, wife, son, and another on the way staring unemployment in the face in 90 days. Stay on it, as mentioned backups to backups and you'll make it. Good luck.
