Generally they staff for the shoulder seasons and flex during summers. That's been their strategy since pre-Covid.

There's probably some APA data that shows rsv flying YOY month to month to drill down to what is going on. Would be interesting to see and compare this time next year.

Also FWIW Delta is getting creamed with this crowdstrike thing. It looks like another repeat of that 5-day ordeal that happened a few years ago.

Yesterday cancels by airline:
34% - Delta
15% - United
44% - Endeavor
13% - Spirit
...
1% - AA

One of the advantages of running everything on a 60s era mainframe.

There's the GTD report on the APA site, but that metric may be useless after August. Hopefully they keep doing the same thing with RDW

Quoted for truth.

Sorry you bombed your interview, but you really need to give it a rest.

The only explanation I can contemplate— they’re attempting to run a tight ship with pilot efficiency (avoid costs associated with potential furloughs).
AA will still be flying more block hours in the fall/winter of 2024 than in 2023, just not as much than previously expected. Instead of 8% growth it will only be 1-2% which will allow us to get caught up on training and start fresh in 2025. I do think the company wants to run the pilot count lean meaning more OG/PM which is still cheaper than having more on the payroll. The current plan is back to 2000+ new hires in 2025 if we can get the expected deliveries.

Get out your crystal ball and state your case!
Don't forget the new LTD pay rules go into effect in Aug/Sep. Rumor is everyone 63+ with some sort of surgery that they were putting off is ready to pull the trigger.

While that's the smart/logical play, I think the majority will continue to 65. Too many egos and identities tied up in this job.

This. I personally know 4 bubbas doing exactly this. There's going to be alot "off-the-top" I think. Shrink to efficiency/profitable and PM/OG flowin' much much more.

New LTD pay rules? I'm drawing a blank.

I should have said new to this CBA. And I guess they are already in effect since February. I was just generally referring to everything contractual being implemented (supposedly) by the 1 year mark.
