I would really like to be proud of working for AA. For most the career it has been a travesty. So many opportunities to get the work groups pulling in the right direction. All have fallen short. There is an enormous gap between the regular line pilot and management. Even the lowly 2 years with the company Chief pilot. They clearly are in that position because they either know someone or don't want to fly. I know one Chief pilot. I knew them prior to flying at AA. 25+ years later not one other. Maybe I have met two or three. Never been called by one and never called for a favor. In my mind they don't give a crap. If they did then maybe they would show their faces.

I do not feel like I have anything to do with AA. I suppose someone cares but it isn't felt. From chasing down money that is rightfully mine, to AA screwing up medical benefits, to not having hotels for training, to waiting on hold for 4 hours for a hotel, etc. etc. etc.. Its a never ending battle of fighting the norm. It gets old real quick.

I just listened to the last "Push To Talk". Way way way out of touch. I wish I could email those talking heads to let them know how much we wish they would be fired. What ever they are doing is not working. They haven't a clue.

Can it change? Sure. Will it? Wouldn't count on it. There is always hope but mine is waning.

I would not recommend anyone fly on us. That sucks. I cringe when someone tells me they just flew on AA. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
why are you waiting on hold for 4 hours??? Someone that's been at American for over 25 years should know better.

Even our union has tried helping them out to see the light. I don’t know if the right change will ever happen. It will take hiring somebody from the outside, a visionary.
The obsession with efficiency and milking every dollar out of flight crews is ultimately what bogs things down. There should be some kind of system to ensure that pilots aren't being paid exhorbitant amounts of soft time but they need to turn the levers down a bit and give the operation some breathing room. Same goes for acft utilization. Someone, somewhere should be able to see that an acft transiting CLT 6 times on a Saturday in July with 45 mins between each flight is a problem. Again we should push for efficiency but there is a lift/drag type relationship where at some point "efficiency" is straight up harming the operation.

Whenever that inetivable pivot happens, what's the delivery backlog on an alternative going to be, and at what price point? Sure, maybe they got a smokin deal on some Boeing vaporware, but from the cheap seats seems like it could be a penny wise and pound foolish decision. And on the WB side we aren't even willing to consider an alternative. If only we had a crosstown rival that could demonstrae the downsides of relying on a sole supplier for your entire fleet.....

But hey, the PR flacks can make a pretty press release out of it......

1,100 has been the plan all year and has not been reduced.

It certainly has been reduced. Was originally supposed to be 2000 plus.

According to an aero crew news post from Dec 29 the number was 1,100 for 2024.

All good points and I appreciate the perspective. We need leadership that focuses on culture and morale, we're bleeding cash in large part because our employees are unhappy. That being said, if the right leadership team is put in place in the future, we need the employees to be receptive to the possibility of improvement and to knock off the "screw the company, everything they do is an attack on us" mentality. Being angry feels good, but it hurts us in the long run. APA is the biggest offender here, they love getting us all pi$$ed off at the company without actually proposing any mutually beneficial improvements. Union kool aid! No better than Delta's brainwashing.
