Company BOD, not APA.

APA sucks, they just like getting everyone angry so they can keep their cushy union gigs. Meanwhile our quality of life suffers and our labor relations with the company keeps getting worse.

My flights have mostly been on time and generally good vibes from FAs/agents etc. I will say that I fly with guys who point out the attitude in the flight deck is often quite negative, maybe this is just a symptom of pilots being continuously negative rubbing off on everyone.

This place has only gotten better over the past 20 years I've seen the operation run. If anyone was here in summer 2018 and 2019 you know exactly what I'm talking about. I will say they need to increase connection times in CLT especially, as a 35-40 min connection unnecessarily raises everyone's stress levels (pax, agents, etc).

I have to laugh at the bid sheet dig, literally everyone says the same thing "the worst bid sheet ever!" lol.
The summer of 2019 was the “summer of hate and discontent”. Maintenance was slow rolling the operation. We had a 3.5% cancellation rate in July that year. DL was something like .3%. It sticks in my head because of how bad that summer was.

I've been here only for 14 months, and it's so damn obvious that things need to change somehow. I don't care the type of business you're running, but for a place with these amount of employees/departments......you need happy employees that feel somewhat proud of where they work, see DL/UA. A job is a job I get it, still, you can feel the apathy and negative energy everywhere and that ain't cool.
DL/UA still hiring this year and running classes, and we gonna have a hiring freeze for how long?. God forbid we grow.....but it seems we gonna shrink a little bit?. I do like and support being cautious but holy s* what a contrast with the other 2.
Don't get me wrong, still a great job/career, but management is supossed to fix what's wrong and help the airline grow, not just squeeze the operation to make extra $0.99. The NB trips are getting worse everty month with that PBS optimizer, but maybe this happens at DL/UA as well.

Things need to change.
Didn't DAL, UAL and SWA all stopped hiring this year, months before AAL stopped?

SWA yes, and UAL had this issue with the FAA and the MAX incidents, but they started having classes again. And as far as I know DAL was only a slow down but I may be wrong.

DAL still hiring, heard they stopped interviews for the rest of the year. Everyone just waiting on class dates. 1,100 is the plan for the year and hasn’t been revised down since

Exactly. When all said and done all the numbers will be similar this year.

You hit the nail on the head. AA employees need to stop sabotaging the operation, that's the only way things will improve. And management needs to acknowledge that employees are sabotaging the operation and actually do something about it.

25+ years. Some work group is always ****ed off usually more than one group. The I don't give a $#!] factor is as prevalent as ever. We need someone to come in at the top and convince us all that they care. Maybe someone at the top that doesn't give a hoot about getting rich (or make us think that). Mr. Isom is not it. I would really like to be proud of working for AA. For most the career it has been a travesty. So many opportunities to get the work groups pulling in the right direction. All have fallen short. There is an enormous gap between the regular line pilot and management. Even the lowly 2 years with the company Chief pilot. They clearly are in that position because they either know someone or don't want to fly. I know one Chief pilot. I knew them prior to flying at AA. 25+ years later not one other. Maybe I have met two or three. Never been called by one and never called for a favor. In my mind they don't give a crap. If they did then maybe they would show their faces.

I do not feel like I have anything to do with AA. I suppose someone cares but it isn't felt. From chasing down money that is rightfully mine, to AA screwing up medical benefits, to not having hotels for training, to waiting on hold for 4 hours for a hotel, etc. etc. etc.. Its a never ending battle of fighting the norm. It gets old real quick.

I just listened to the last "Push To Talk". Way way way out of touch. I wish I could email those talking heads to let them know how much we wish they would be fired. What ever they are doing is not working. They haven't a clue.

Can it change? Sure. Will it? Wouldn't count on it. There is always hope but mine is waning.

I would not recommend anyone fly on us. That sucks. I cringe when someone tells me they just flew on AA. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
