I'm assuming that Halon1211 meant resignation letter.

To the question at hand, I am a recent new hire and was not required or prompted to submit any resignation letters during any point during the recruitment process.

That being said, I would 100% ensure that you are off the books and no longer employeed by a previous employer prior to starting with a new company on day 1 though.

I have no direct evidence to support this other than hearing anecdotal stories of folks that played fast-and-loose with this timeline and found themselves terminated from both jobs as a result.

EDIT - My new hire class was informed on day 1 of indoc that flying in any other commercial capacity was forbidden. I assume that this is an industry standard ... but I am new to the 121 world so have no other employers to compare it against.

If you "won the lottery" and find yourself sitting in class at Big-3, you don't want to roll the dice.

A "clean break" should exist between prior employer, and new employer, possibly by one or two days. TSA, other checks will be done and you don't need any "flare ups" at indoc when you get called out of class to "go over something with HR"

I'm just now seeing that the original question was regarding a furlough-type situation.

I missed that on the first read through.

Almost certain AA does not care if you maintain yourself on a seniority list while on furlough. Also, Any company worth working for would throw away a resignation letter from a furloughee..

no, I meant for a furlough.

I am not furloughed yet, but thinking about being voluntary furloughed.

will other people be furloughed or are you taking an LOA for a defined period of time?

Other people will be furloughed. But they are also offing a MOU as well.

you can volunteer for the Furlough or MOU.

but with the Furlough the company is agreeing to payout our section 23 furlough pay. So in other words you can take a cash payout and go elsewhere.

I think there is some overly-assuming that AA will offer a CJO, knowing you are furloughed.

Not sure I would put my eggs into that basket. The largest airline in the world probably has been around the block once or twice, I would expect they would want you to resign if offered a CJO by AA.

I would expect they would want you to give notice before a class date. But you can swim in the CJO pool a long time in some cases before getting a class date at some majors.

Bro! AA doesn't hire tools! United said no to you, just stay in IAH with Spirit.
