Or maybe that's why he's ceo.
dougie was a money and merger guy he was there for the mergers and for covid.
Isom is an operations guy he's there to fix the mess the airline is in.
I wouldn't count on isom to be here for the long term. He's just fixing the operation and keeping the seat warm.

Interesting take. I read it completely opposite from that. Isom is so out to lunch that he and his team had to hire an outside consulting firm to tell them that Vasu and his "strategy" were going to alienate a good portion of their customers. If I were on the board, I would have some serious doubts about his ability to even keep this place afloat, let alone be profitable.
FWIW most of the bigger industry writers think AA's move towards the new booking software was the right one. It was executed badly, but the concept was good.
Isom is smart af, there is a reason Doug selected him and not Kirby. IMO at least. Hopefully it pans out.

I can't imagine that was a small or easy undertaking for a decent sized company to do. And I presume AA management will somehow expect these companies to do another 180 and come running back? What's the incentive? How will AA make it worth their while? Or have most of those ships sailed?

I don't know if you're aware of another of Raja's bold moves to pull the discounted fares from travel agencies...like Concur and Amex travel that big corporations use. So if you went to your Concur travel and looked at a DFW-LAX ticket, it might be $800, but the same ticket on AA.com was $400. Again nobody was told initially. People were just reporting these weird anomalies with Concur, et al. I suppose the point was to drive business to internal sales avoid paying commissions. It seems odd that a Very Large Company wouldn't grasp the concept that other large companies use these third party vendors so they can put controls in place to keep Frank in IT from buying a stupid expensive ticket without approval from above. Anyway, I think they finally walked that one back after the blowback. Good ol' Raja The Disruptor. 🙄

She said it like she was an authority figure over me or something. I wanted to say something else to her since I saw her talking rudely to other passengers, but didn’t want to cause a scene, since that’s not a good look for a pilot.
I asked the captain and he said yea sure no problem. Set my bag upfront, secured it, then I looked at the agent as I went back to take my seat and she gave me this evil look. Wasn’t trying to be an axx or anything, just doing what is actually allowed. She clearly didn’t like me “going over her head.” Oh well.
