American’s biggest mistake was eliminating frequent flier miles for business travelers who are required to book through a travel agency. Suddenly many business travelers began status matching on United and Delta and switching carriers. That alone may be responsible for the revenue drop. I expect this policy to be reversed shortly.
Then Isom calls the guy "Raja" a "friend and a disruptor." If there's one thing a legacy flag carrier doesn't need it's "disruptors". Save that for tech startups.

This is the truth. My wife's company spent $10M/yr on travel--most of it w/AA due to their location. Not only did the miles go away, which really wasn't a huge deal, but the credit card went away...AND they weren't notified. I think they found out when the card issuer sent them snail mail. Then they had to scramble to find a new corporate card for 500+ employees all over the world. It took her a month to get ahold of someone in corporate sales, and that person was low level and didn't know anything except half the department had been laid off and they really didn't know what they were supposed to be doing. My wife actually said, "Tell me why I should give you our business." And the person said "I don't know."

“A majority of teachers (68%) and Democrats (50%) believe that unions have a positive effect. No one else agrees. Remarkably, 20% of Democrats say that teacher unions have a negative effect on schools.”

I can't imagine that was a small or easy undertaking for a decent sized company to do. And I presume AA management will somehow expect these companies to do another 180 and come running back? What's the incentive? How will AA make it worth their while? Or have most of those ships sailed?

I think many have short memories, and the company can rebound, but Isom is in trouble. He signed off on all these strategies and AA is in rough shape. He exudes no confidence and I’m not sure who he really appeals to. He sends out virtually no communication and is awkward as F when talking to employees. At least Doug would get drunk with everybody. The company pulled off the ability to lower costs and massively lower revenue in historically our best quarter.

It doesn't seem like he has adapted to his new role as CEO. When he was COO he was concerned about schedules, on-time performance, lost luggage and such. Now that he is CEO, he spends his time on conference calls talking about schedules, on-time performance, and lost luggage. I think he forgot he has a new job now.
dougie was a money and merger guy he was there for the mergers and for covid.
Isom is an operations guy he's there to fix the mess the airline is in.
I wouldn't count on isom to be here for the long term. He's just fixing the operation and keeping the seat warm.
