I’m not CLT based so can’t confirm but I’ve heard the majority of 3-4 leg day “regional style” trips are on the Bus, not the 737.

I just checked myAAcareer.com to see how long it would take someone hired today to upgrade in PHX or LAX but the most recent seniority list update doesn’t have the Jan hires on there yet so I used the most junior person hired last year. Per the website it would take someone hired in Nov 2023 approximately 8 years to upgrade to LAX 320 CA and 10 years to upgrade to PHX 320 CA. LAX 737 is a bit sooner at approx 5 years. LAX 777 CA is projected for approx 2050 and LAX 787 CA in ~2053. Obviously results may vary.

Seconded. Buds that left PHL for CLT said the flying is worse. Lots of 4 leggers on the Bus. If you don't know GSO, you will, haha.

Also, just my observation, the 40ish or so 320s left, seem to be consolidated in CLT. It's honestly the only place I've seen them in my short tenure.

Correct. We get all the old junkers here and hardly any NEOs.

Do I make the switch from 737 to 320?

Currently MIA 737 FO but moving to NC. I sit at around 65% CLT 737 FO and 72% CLT 320 FO.

Also a tall dude that wouldn't mind a change and a bit more room in the flight deck.
Not planning on upgrading any time soon and want to play the senior FO game for a few years as I have a kid on the way.
I noticed that there are far more senior FOs in CLT 320 than CLT 737 (adjusted for base size)
Should this make much of a differnce in my decision on whether to swith to the bus? Comfort vs quicker way to the top 25%... hmmmm
Bid the 320. A 7% difference in relative seniority isn't live altering at 65-72%.

Why bid the 320? When you hear all the *****ing about one vs the other you'll be able to figure out if there's one that you prefer, if you really dislike one of the airplanes, or if just doesn't matter. When it comes time to upgrade you'll know the answer and that will help you know which plane you will, or won't, upgrade on. The 737 is a better airplane and performer. The Airbus is a better job but it does some wierd stuff. You'll get used to it and it doesn't matter after awhile you just work around it or live with it.

If you have to spend a long time on one aircraft the 320 is the way to go. Comfort, quietness, and size of the cockpit are much better.

PBS tip I used to give - want better trips? Put 'avoid CLT' in your preferences. Your legs, on average, will be longer.

Lots of N/S east coast flights out of CLT. Lots of city pair options under 60-90 minutes....

At my last company we were doing a turn out of GSO and the 747 that carries the president was doing closed traffic touch n gos. Pretty incredible seeing a plane that big going touch n gos. Apparently it's a mx base for it.

You might get lucky to see that if you go there enough

I haven't been to gso in almost 3 years. I'm based in Charlotte, super junior capppppppppy. Was mid seniority fo here, still no gso. GSP 2x. But I'm plenty familiar with the East Coast.

6'7" here, bid the bus. 4 leg days seem to be rare, although not impossible, and honestly easier than in the CRJ. Add bonus to CLT Bus is you have a high liklihood of doing all training in CLT, so no 4 day jaunts to DFW for the company hotel.

I live about 20-25 min from the parking lot and I just keep bidding reserve. No real complaints.

I agree about the negligible difference with my current seniority. But by the next vacancy when I'm awarded the BUS, plus 1 year of withholding, im asking about the difference in seniority I may have then and onwards as a FO. So I was asking the difference between being top 10% on the 737 and potentially 30% on the bus.
All that aside, I agree with and much rather prefer the comfort of the bus.4 legs a day sounds less ideal and I've luckily avoided that on the 737.
